You can't download new graphics unless you mean a later version of the DirectX graphics software. Otherwise, if you need more 'power', if your motherboard has a graphics card slot in it you can purchase a stronger video card and have it installed and the onboard Intel graphics disabled. That should give you more punch. Whoever installs that card should know if it is strong enough for the kinds of games you want to play, if you tell them a few titles. However, if you are getting missing file messages that is nothing to do with your video power, but instead to do with your software. Perhaps reinstalling the game would work.

Hello rvartak132
I don't know why, but PotC hates the Intel chipset!
You need to download and install an application called Swiftshader. You will suffer a loss in performance, but you should still be able to run the game on lower settings.
You can download it directly from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads/swiftshader-v20-demo
If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask. Good luck!

Pirates of the Caribbean problems with ENGINE.exe: In my case a simple software, called SwiftShader2.0 solved it!!!

Recently I also had a problem with this game. Every time i tryed to start a new game, an error occured, stating, that the engine.exe stopped, and the program exited. After spening all night researching on this topic, i found the solution: you should install SwiftShader 2.0. It is a simple and great program (as far as i know it changes the graphical performance, in order to get the game work).

You can download it from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads/swiftshader-v20-demo

Having downloaded, sipmply install it to the root folder of the game (in my case it is C:\Program files\Bethesda Softworks\Pirates of the Caribbean)
Note that, there is a "Config" file in this root folder, and using that you can make the graphical settings of the game (resolution, set it to full screen mode, etc.). For some reasons this didn't want to work in my case, but there is an other way of doing these settings: in this root folder you can also find an "engine.ini" file, which can be opened as a .txt file. If opened as .txt, than you can rewrite the data in it in order to make the desired changes (for examlpe you should rewrite "full_screen = 0" to "full_screen = 1", to activate full screen mode. You cn also chage the graphical resolution of the game this way.)

The link i have given to download SwiftShader2.0 is reliable, it is originally a created for "New Horison", which is a promising mode for Pirates of the Caribbean. You can also download this full mode, and install it containing SwiftShader2.0. This mode contains much more adventure -for example you can choose from about 7 very different charachters to play with! But personally i decided to play without whis mode, because in my system it wasn't performing well.

I hope, this will solve your problems too. /Soory for spelling mistakes/

your computer probably cant run the game, check your graphics card, RAM, and processor speed, make sure it meets the requirements for the game or exceeds them, if one is below, the game will most likely not work

Hello Etto!

Recently i had the same problem with this game. However, in my case i finally managed to solve it! I guess, the main problem was, that the game couldn't communicate with my Intel on board graphic card, what is more, it didn't see my AMD Radeon video card. Finally i found 2 soultion:
First: swich off Intel on board graphic card. This way the game used my AMD Radeon video vard without any problems.
Second: Use a software, called SwiftShader2.0, which can make the game use the Intel on board graphic card without any problems.

You can download SwiftShader2.0 from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads/swiftshader-v20-demo

If necessary you can easily reinstall SwiftShader2.0, using its reinstall icon, that can be found in the same folder, in which it was installed.

Hello Mat W Shapla!

Recently i was trying to play this game in Windows 7, and i had the same problem with it. However, in my case i finally managed to solve it! I guess, the main problem was, that the game couldn't communicate with my Intel on board graphic card, what is more, it didn't see my AMD Radeon video card. Finally i found 2 soultion:
First: swich off Intel on board graphic card. This can be done in BIOS. By swiching it off, the game used my AMD Radeon video card without any problems.
Second: Use a software, called SwiftShader2.0, which can make the game use the Intel on board graphic card without any problems.

You can download the demo of SwiftShader2.0 from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads/swiftshader-v20-demo
Although it is only a demo, it is working without any problems -i'm not sure, fi it has any limitation, for example a trial period, or something.

Some other info:
I have read, that somtimes Vista preforming well, only when you use it as an administrator. So before trying to do these things, chage you status to administrator.
You could give it a try, and run the game in compatibiy modes (althuogh in my Windows 7 system, it didn't get any better by doing that).

Finally, i would like to share you an other link. You would have a great use of it, after you managed to solve the problem, and play the game. This is a walkthrough of the game, helping to get the quests done. Can be extremely useful, because the game prone to contain bugs, and without this help you can't be sure, that you will be able to get throught the tasks.
