Have gigaset 2420, two base
You may need to set the main handset to synchronize with the base unit plugged into the telephone wall jack and assign special configuration numbers to the other handsets in order to properly identify each one within a specified location. One handset left in the turned on mode may make it impossible to place calls with the any of the other handsets. This will continue until either the battery dies or fails on the handset or the phone is switched off and replaced in its charger for charging again. Synchronize the main handset by pressing the MENU button on the handset, then pressing the down button IN order to select the number you wish to assign to that handset. Repeating this process if you have already done so will greatly decrease the level of errors experienced with panasonic phones MORE USEFUL INFORMATION FOR ALL YOUR ELECTRONICS When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.

You may have the wrong or defective power supply. Or, that problem is common from getting a power surge and the unit will probably have to be sent in for repair, sorry.
Hand-set Intermittant and clicking
If all your handsets simultaneously recently starting having this problem, the first start would be replacing your base after you have determined a site problem as cropped up. Did you or a neighbor add any wireless devices lately? Did you move your base? Your problem is a common problem with all cordless devices where the base and handsets are not communicating properly with eachother, it is common that it is interference, or your radio modules in your base/handsets are failing. Try powering down you base for a while, then give it a try. But I would look at your environment and see if anything changed. Good Luck
Siemens 2520 gigaset base
Hi Mike,
Its an easy fix, you need to tell the phone what area code your in. Push menu, go to system settings, enter your pin, scroll forward to "area codes" press enter twice, enter your area code and push enter to save. Now the phone knows where your located and wont add the 1 and the area code. CG

You will need to customize your Call log settings to show which area code your located in so it will redial from the log properly. To do so, push Menu, then scroll to system settings, push select, then scroll to Area Codes, push select and specify the area code that you are in. If you need additional assistance, go to the link below which is the full manual on PDF, then go to page 48. Hope that helps.

Sticky keypad on cordless sets
Hi Mathew, After a few years, they all collect moisture under the pads. This goes for almost every cordless phone I have opened, regardless of the model. Normally, I can tell how much gunk is under the pad before I open the phone. If they are filthy on the outside, they are normally filthy on the inside, and the dirt and moisture migrate under and over the dialing pad, and all over the circuit board, it gets real nasty. Not saying your phones are filthy, but that is what I observed after opening thousands of them. Once it gets moist under the pad they grind the conductive rubber to a pulp, the harder you push the more it destroys the pad. Unfortunately, in your particular case, that model is nearly impossible to open without damaging it. It has no screws, but there are many plastic tabs holding it together, and if you pry in the wrong spot, in the wrong manner, and break one tab, the phone is ruined and you will have audio problems (plus just cleaning the buttons will only fix it for a very short period) if by some miracle you get it open and closed without breaking the tabs. The plastic is not just for looks, its condition can effect the operation of the phones audio. I wish I had a do it yourself answer for you, but in this particular case the only solution I can recommend is finding a experienced Siemens cordless repair facility. Good Luck
Siemens Phone
I just replied to a similar post. This is a common problem, not only with the Siemens but most all manufacturers that used this design of display on many different devices. And in this case, the display connections are pressed on with a special machine and can't be replaced by a do it yourselfer. Sorry I can only recommend sending it in for repair.
Msg-blinks no display
Hi Dan, Yes it is a very nice system, but like any device it is sensitive to electrical storms and power fluctuations. A surge or sag (AC power going up or down), can cause the sensitive digital chips to get damaged, and from my experience if you have tried resetting the unit, and your msg lites continue to flicker and the LCD is blank, it has some serious damage and needs repair or replacement.
Siemens Gigaset 2420 Desk Staion LCD Display
That is a common problem with those types of displays, they are sensitive to heat, cold and any movement. They were used by Siemens, and almost all the other manufacturers during this time period. Unfortunately on this particular model, they are not soldered in, they are pressed on by a machine. So if you don't have a Zebra cable press machine ($1000's), and a brand new display, you can only resort to sending it in for repair. Sorry.
Reset base
Delete all the entries in the call log. This will fix the problem, though it may recur. The phone sometimes has a problem when the log is full, and then receives caller id info in a specific format.
