I have a hlr4264w, just changed the lamp , started
Sounds like the color wheel might be having a problem (the "groan" you mentioned). Inspect the color wheel, and its components. You may have to take the back of the TV off to get to it (not the whole back end, just a rear assembly). Usually, a major color wheel malfunction is preceded by loud noises and only 1 color (or white) being displayed, but it's possible that the motor is worn out (or something else is wrong) and it just can't start up.
Obviously, if you have the back cover of the TV removed, and the color wheel isn't spinning when you turn it on, then that's your problem....
If you bought the lamp from a reputable dealer (assuming you gave them the correct model #, etc), it shouldn't be. It should look identical to your old lamp assembly (other than the burnt out bulb). If you bought it off of FLEAbay (Ebay), then you might have bought yourself a nice paper weight. Oh, check to see that you seated the new bulb assembly properly (unlikely, but possible).

Tv shuts off after 5
My buddy had the same problem. You have to take and unplug your tv first of all. Take the back of the TV off carefully and use compressed air to clean out the back of the set. You more than likely have dust collecting and its causing it to think it is overheating. I am sure you can go to youtube and type in a similar tv and how to go about more thorough step by step.. Learn by watching.

When i turn it on
-
Check the power. Don't be embarrassed if your problem is as
simple as an unplugged power cord. It's better that you should discover
this than pay a repair technician to come out to your house and find
out.
-
Isolate the problem. The main troubles that will crop up with a TV set are either no picture, no sound or both.
-
Check the input setting on your remote control. If you have
other devices connected to the TV, such as a video game system, those
devices must be used with a different input setting than the input you
use for watching programs or movies on a DVD or Blu-Ray player. Chances
are, the kids were playing a game and forgot to turn the input back the
way it was.
-
Press the Input button on your remote control to return to
the setting you wish to use. For example, the cable box might be
connected to Input 1 and your DVD player might be connected to Input 2.
Newer television sets have at least 3 inputs.
-
Check the coaxial connection from your cable or satellite
receiver to the television. The cable should be attached securely by
twisting the round lock nut clockwise. Also check the power connections
for the satellite or cable receiver. If either is unplugged, you won't
receive a programming signal on the TV.
-
6
Make sure the video cable is securely attached to the TV jack if you have a home theater system. The video cable runs from the Video Out jack on your home theater receiver to the Video In jack on the back of your TV.
-
7
Check your receiver setting. Home theater receivers manage
several components, so if you have the receiver set to operate the CD
player but you are trying to watch a movie on your Blu-Ray player,
you'll need to change the selection to Blu-Ray to watch the movie on
your TV.
-
Check the TV speakers to see whether they have been muted by
accident. Press the volume button on your remote control or go to the
Menu section and scroll down until you reach TV Speakers. Toggle left or
right to turn the speakers on or off.
-
Press the speaker button on your receiver to make sure your
external home theater speakers are activated. Many home theater systems
use external for their superior audio rather than the speakers inside a television.

I'm moving to Germany, Is my TV compatible with
Hello
You haven't specifed from where you move to Germany. If it is from US the cnance is rare to work your TV with German system, which I finds PAL. So it will be best for you to buy one multisystem compactable TV, if your movement is permanent. US adopted NTSC & ATAC systems, and TVs you buy and use in US will respond only to that systems. OK.

NEEDS NEW DLP CHIP, whats the cost and will it
A new chip will cost between $250.00 and $300.00. I would strongly recommend having a technician do the repair because the chip is burried behind other components that have to be removed to access the chip. This job should not take more than an hour to complete. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest service center.

White spots on samsung DLP tv
DLP/mirror chip is going bad. A common problem on Sammy TVs after 2-3 years. Chip is user replaceable (try samsungparts.com or ebay) for about $150-200. Sammy was (last year) repairing the DLP White Spot problem for free. You MUST talk to ECR (executive customer service) to even think about getting that consideration--forget the standard CS people. Don't know if they are still covering this out of warranty in 2010.

Need wiring schematics
not sure which
What power wire are you talking about? The lamp? If yes then one of the wires(lamp power wire) goes into the ballast. The other one is the lamp enable . The lamp sensor is located on the lamp cover itself and does not have a connector cable. I would like to have a look at the cables though to make sure we are both on the same page.

Is it easy to change a color wheel like the lamp?
the colorwheel is not as easy as the lamp to change. you have to remove the light engine from the tv and remove a cover from the lens and a cover from over the colorwheel then two screws that hold the color wheel and two wires. sometimes new codes must be input into the service mode. i suggest letting a professional do it.

Spots on the screen
Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. This is a common issue with Samsung DLP TVs and Samsung knows
about it. This issue is usually due to a bad DMD Board (Digital Micro mirror
Device). If you search for this on web you’ll find so many issues with Samsung TVs
only. The best way is to contact 800-Samsung and let them know that you are
facing white spots issue. They’ll surely send a professional and you don’t have
to pay for the repair as this is a defect with these sets. Please do accept the solution if the issue is
resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

I'm getting white spots on the screen on my
Hello!
Those white spots are most probably to be the DMD board, I'm not sure Samsung will fix it for free, you will need to call them and ask. The board is not that expensive. on the other hand, the installation will need to be done by a technician since it's a board and you want to be very careful with the boards that are around it.
