Your convegence has gone out. You can get complete kits with instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com or just the parts from www.ConvergenceChips.com . If you have never done this before i would suggest going the kit route since it includes step by step photo instructions and support.

There is almost nothing that can be fixed by yourself if your not trained in high voltages and advanced circuitry now days. This sounds like it could be your color guns going bad or the power supply.
This set also has an issue with The tv convergence board,require 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems.

This may not solve all your problems because the adjustment you are talking about is a course adjustment only and does not tweak the alignment across the entire screen so you could still have areas of misconvergence. It would be better to correct the problem. Your unit either has a problem with the sensors located around the perimeter of the screen or the convergence circuit. If no wires are disconnected from the sensors, and this is the most likely cause, I would change the convergence ICs. This tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv convergence board,require 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems.The shop will,cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

Sounds like you have Bad FBT Flyback Transfomer

This seems to be a problem in the Power Supply I would think. Either that or a fault that is overloading the PSU.
This means a trip to the repair shop.
Make sure ya get a firm "Quote" for tha fix before proceeding.

It sounds like a color wheel. Could be a fan too.

Two possibles solutions:

1.--Horizontal capacitor is burn or blown.
Need be replace, located beside horizontal transistor ( .0082uf 2kv ).
Clean the aarea on the chassis.
2.-- Transformer fly back is burn, need be replace.
If you will work on this tv or any special technician will work on this tv, request for replace capacitor on power supply. Common problem too.

Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most TVs do not.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (One of my family's TVs used a dongle to condense the analog video signal to a single port, swapping blue and green gave a black and white output, IIRC.)

Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.
