Rosemary, I found a broken Ping putter in the trash can and took it to a golf repair place and they put a new shaft in for not too much money and it was a great putter for many years before I needed a belly putter to help me keep the putter more steady.

it can be a spring that came loose from its spot under the seat look to where it should be or the seat could be back to far and it depends on how old it is if it has just broke down make sure nothing it in the way and the lever id not stuck hope this was helpful:)
