I think it's where the batteries get put on their charger and left on there and when you take them off the charger they are fried. Starts off by not holding charge long and then not charging. Two batteries did this to me. They are suppose have a cut off were it doesnt burn om up the batteries??? What happened?? Should be recalled!!!!

For others with the same problem (flashing red light won't go off)...make sure you FIRMLY PUSH the battery down onto the charger and engage the latches. Simply resting the battery on the charger will not work.

Solution is two fold. Will try the freeze and re charge approach today and do this a few times. The long term soluiton is to purchase two Lithium batteries and a duel chemical charger. Expensive solution but seems it will work.

It is best not to recharge a battery with minimal use. The time to recharge is when you notice a lack of power or performance. The only time that is recommended to "TOP OFF" a battery is when you are going to put it to hard use. Let me know if you need more assistance.

does this tool have a spindle lock? what I would try if not is putting the blade on a block of wood and using the drill and a socket adapter to loosen bolt, if appears from the picture that this might be a left hand bolt, this should take care of your problem. Let me know if you need more assistance and if you do give me the saw model number so I can find a schematic.

If you mixed up the 7.2v and 9 v chargers and out a batter in to charge it its not fixable! Your lucky you did not blow up the battery.I did the same thing about 3 years ago and when I came home to my work shop it was covered in a oil/coke like covering for 10 feet around the charger... Sorry to say its not fixable. But you can find replacements for your drill even now after its been discontinued gonna cost around 35 bucks a battery but still worth it if the drill's in good shape... Sorry its not the news you were looking for, Best wishes Bob Hallzy

Bothights on indicates a problem with the battery. You cam try cleanibg the battery terminal with a Q-tip moistened with alcohol. Allow it to dry completly before tryin to recharge. If that doesn't work the battery may be defective or broken. If it was dropped that could cause the damage.

Yes you can get a replacement chuck and install it your self. with the chuck open, ( you can still make it open but its not easy inthe bottom of the hole theres a screw that holds it from turning , most of them ar ebackwards thread, ( turn it ti the right to loosen ) with the screw removed and the drill in low gear ( the slower of the two speeds chuck up the short end of a big allen wrenck ( kex key) The chuck has regular threads and you smack the key with a hammer to unwind it. once turning it'll come right off. If you can't get it off it's not worrth fixing as if you need to pay a shop to put it on by the time parts and labor go by a new one can be bought. You might not be able to get the Ryobi chuck but don't worry all the chucks with the same thread sise will fit and work even ones that use keys. they come with both metric and inch threads though so be sure you take the old parts with you to the stroe to match them up. Msot places that rent out tools have a fix it and parts shop too. Look them up under tool repair and tool rental.

It sounds like you drained the batteries down as far as they will go. This happened to me and then I purchased the 18V Lithium-Ion battery and charger. I was able to re-charge the drained battery on the new charger. This may work for you as well. They cheapest solution for you is to just purchase a new battery.
