I buy a lincoln mig 255 and the black wire is not

Which black wire are you talking about? The ground wire to weld with or the actual hard wire hook ups for electricity? As far as weld leads red typically goes in positive and black to negative like a car battery if ya will, unless you need to change polarities. Good luck!

I have a Lincoln Ranger 250 gas welder it runs but it won't strike a arc where should I start looking for the problem?

If your Lincoln Ranger 250 gas welder is running but not striking an arc, there could be a few potential issues causing this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Check the welding leads and connections: Ensure that the welding leads are securely connected to both the welder and the workpiece. Make sure the connections are tight and free from corrosion or damage. 2. Check the electrode/ground clamp connections: Inspect the electrode holder and ground clamp connections for any loose or damaged parts. Ensure that the electrode holder is securely gripping the welding electrode. 3. Check the welding electrode: Examine the welding electrode for any signs of damage or wear. Replace the electrode if it appears worn out, as it may not strike an arc effectively. 4. Check the power source: Verify that the power source to the welder is adequate. Ensure that the welder is receiving the correct voltage and that the power source is providing sufficient power. 5. Check the welding settings: Review the welding settings on the welder to ensure they are appropriate for the type and thickness of the metal you are working on. Adjust the settings if necessary. 6. Check the welding environment: Make sure you are operating in a clean and well-ventilated area. Remove any contaminants or debris from the workpiece and ensure good contact between the workpiece and the ground clamp. 7. Check the welder's internal components: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to inspect the internal components of the welder. This requires expertise and should be performed by a qualified technician. Contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for assistance. Remember, safety is crucial when working with welding equipment. Always follow proper safety precautions and wear appropriate protective gear, such as welding gloves and a welding helmet, to protect yourself from potential hazards. These might help

Lincoln 100 with gas. Was working fine then suddenly when I pull the trigger it appears to experience an internal short circuit.

It sounds like there may be a problem with the internal circuitry of your Lincoln 100 welder. Given that the welder is tripping the breaker and dimming the lights in the garage, there may be a significant amount of current passing through a fault in the machine's electrical system.

I would recommend that you do not attempt to operate the welder until the issue has been resolved. Welding equipment can be dangerous if not properly maintained and operated, and it's important to take safety precautions to avoid injury or damage to your property.

Since you've already inspected the inside of the welder and didn't find anything obvious, it may be best to take it to a qualified repair technician. They will have the expertise and equipment to diagnose and fix any problems with the machine's electrical system.

Alternatively, you can contact the manufacturer's customer service for guidance or recommendations on qualified repair technicians in your area. They may also be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps to help diagnose the issue.

In any case, safety should always be your top priority when working with electrical equipment.

My 2012 Lincoln classic 300d welder, while I'm welding it will just idle down

If it's a Perkins engine, odds are that you need a rebuild kit for the governor or a new governor to maintain the idle. It's a fairly common issue and repair.

My Lincoln le31mp was welding fine putting good hot flat beads down and 10 min later with the heat all the way up it's acting like it can't get the wire hot enough it's just sitting up on the metal

Check the duty cycle specs. The specs should tell you how many minutes you can weld at certain amps before the machine has to cool down for x amount of time before it will at the specified amps again. From your post that sounds like what you're up against. Hope this helps.

Lincoln 100 HD mig welder arcing at the beginning of the liner just past the feeder wheels, I changed the liner, it didn't make a difference?

The feeder motor, gearbox and all the rest of the feeder unit is mounted on a fiber plate to insulate it from the case of the machine. Something is grounding these parts to the machine frame. It might be some tools laying in the bottom or a buildup of scale and conducting dirt inside the machine. If you understand what I am telling you, an ohm meter set to ohms X1 may help you find the problem. Let me know if you locate the problem.

MY LINCOLN WIRE-WELDOR QUIT .... IT STARTS AND FEEDS WIRE BUT NO SPARK IN ANY SETTING. WHEN I TRIGGER THE HANDLE IT CLICKS LIKE NORMAL BUT NO VOLTAGE MAKES IT . 1 USE CO2 MIXTURE

Most mig welders use an electro-mechanical contactor to switch the welding current through to the torch and others use an electronic means. The heavy current transformer, rectifier and chokes are robust and rarely fail. If welding a high duty cycle they are protected by a thermal breaker that cuts the power until the unit has cooled. You need to check welding current is available from the transformer, through the rectifier and choke and if so the problem is likely with the contactor.
