Proscan 42LA45H 42 in. LCD TV - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Model 42la45h power will not go on
Sounds like a failed or at least failing power supply / power board
inside the TV.
Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an
electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will want to
contact a local TV repair person in your area if you are sure this is
out of warranty, more on that in a bit here. This is actually the
most common problem with this type of TV, I see it every day, it just
happens - sometimes with new TVs and sometimes it takes many years for
it to happen.
If you think it may
still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an
RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not
a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free
extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please
contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they
will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.
If
you want to attempt the repair yourself please let me know and I will
get you the part number and a place you can purchase it from for what
you need.
So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally.
Thanks
Tim
My tv has power but will not turn on
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

Please leave your set ON for several hours and see if the circuit stabilises. It is possible that some capacitor has weaked with electrolytics drying up resulting in loss of value.
If there is no result then open set and try to look for components visibily faulty like high value filter capacitors. replace if suspected.
Use a good soldering iron to touch up soldering the main board, specially the mP sections, the display drives.
Plug/replug in all connectors after checking in the main board/powersupply/display section.
Use a multimeter to check the failed voltage and trace logically the cut off line voltage.
I hope you work on this tip.
My Proscan is approximately 2
Rule of thumb, if you can keep your hand on it, despite it feeling hot, then there is no danger of fire. Flat TV's use a lot of power for the ventilation slots available and so appear to be hotter than you would expect. 40"+ screens use about 150 to 200W the same as two old-style bright light bulbs - it's going to give off heat.

How are you hooked up for HD SIGNAL to this set?
I need as much information as you can give me. Cable? Satellite? Hooked to the Coax fitting if the set has one?
I will be nearby if you reply--usually takes about 5-10 minutes for the site to notify me to a response.
I am here to help.

Check to see if you are on wide zoom mode in that input and check the definition. Go to your menu screen and check your video menu. There are different options for viewing. My inlaws prfer the words cut off it drives me crazy. Hope that helps

Hi
This is more than likely your screen controller board that has gone faulty, if the lines cover the screen vertically and are very thin and rainbow kind of coulored then i would say 98% this is the faulty board, Remove the back from your tv and look for a little board (rectangular in shape) that connects to your screen. (Middle top)
Get the part number of the board and Google or Ebay for a replacement.
Hope this helps
Proscan TV
with no picture and no audio i would more than likely suspect the main AV Board needs replacing.
Take the back of your tv and get the part number of the AV board ( THE ONE WITH THE INPUTS AND SCART SOCKETS) then Google or Ebay for a replacement.
95% thisd will cure your problem.
Hope this helps
NO OWNERS MANUAL
Go to there website to download the pdf version of the manual.
If that does not help look on the back and you should see optical out, audio out type connectors.
Most effective way would be to buy a surround sound amp and connect it via an optical out to the surround sound amp and the surround sound amp will have the connectors for the surround sound speakers.
Our proscan 1080p wont turn on with the remote.
Dead batteries in the remote ? Is it a universal remote correct component selected ? Will the set turn on at the TV power button ? Hard to say with such a vague description. These should give you more information to interject.
