some of these PCs have 2 battery options.and that error only means 2nd battery not present .some new batteries are bad.does the PC run on AC pack alone , no big batteries attached,if not the PACK is no good and charging becomes impossible.a new battery can be overly , discharged sitting in some warehouse for 1+ years.so the manual on your PC tells you to charge it for 24 hours first. (or while sleeping)or reseat the battery even brush of the connectors to it. clean them.

Does the computer function properly with the power cord plugged in? If not, that means you need a new power cord because it is not charging the battery. If the computer works with the power cord plugged in then return the battery. Just because it is new does not mean it is working.

This is a motherboard issue, remove ram memory one at a time and power up each time, if this fails! it is the main board, the only option is to replace the motherboard or buy a new laptop.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output on the back, if picture is okay! it means the LCD panel is defective and screen must be replaced, however if same symptoms show on spare monitor it indicates a bad video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

First,you should check wether the connected power or Compaq business notebooke 6710b battery is OK.If There are no problem ,then there maybe some strange matter !

This notebook has bees setup to login to a network, possibly it was a work notebook.
To login on the notebook and not the Domain (work network), click on the box below password where the domain name is displayed and then select "This computer" then enter your password.

You can buy RAM from any local computer shop and ask them for DDR2 ram and they will put that ram in your laptop

cool sounds like driver issues,
uninstalling the current drivers may leave you without function,thats bad,
try to update your drivers that would be my starting point

go to start
right click on computer
properties
device drivers
right click and update driver

it would be a good idea to be connected to the internet at this time otherwise the drivers will probably not be found for your update

(so is distraction to what it is)the real name of the Laptop is and was Presario CQ61 laptop CQ61 the PC has bottom sticker that shows the real names of PCs.CQ61-219TU is real name of on CQ61, there area many different sub codes, and they are not all the same.CQ61-306AX this had CCFL (cold cathode florecent lamps) that love to fail 3 waysdead, blinks ,dime or yellow = white.was made until 2009 and evolved, to LED backlamps.-410 is CCFLI will answer for CCFL as those just love to fail,but the the test is so easynow the answer for ANY laptop this old. 2007 and older. black screen all the time, and BIOS screens dead, answers only me. here. remove the main battery (large) it simply snaps off the bottom.the power pack is next we run the PC on your power pack AC to DC it must make the screen glow with something, do not use the wrong pack as in mixed up with others.now the lap top seems on, even the fan blows, LED glowpoint a flash lamp at the screen ,dark' room , and of you see any kind of LCD data on the screenthe CCFL lamp below #1 is bad.this is phase 1 testing, as other things can fail too.
