My Honda Pressure washer will not start. I have

Hi
Make sure you are getting spark at the spark plug, to do this:
Remove your spark plug and check to be sure you are getting a bright blue spark at the spark plug.
You do this by grounding the plug on the head of the engine and pulling the crank rope, if you are getting a nice blue spark then:
Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets, fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:
Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces.
That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Check you fuel line condition after a while they will degrade and need replacment.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one.
Make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the pressure washer is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
The diaphgram may look good and flexible, but it can be deceiving and not act as a fuel pump as it should because it has become too hard and will cause hard starting, start and run and shut off, etc.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages. The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit, or you could also ask the parts man that you get your kit from.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor cleaned/rebuilt that should solve your problem.

Honda 5hp engine only runs

Hello
You may have a clogged main jet in the carburetor, remove the engine shroud to expose the carburetor, the carburetor will be held on in most cases by tow bolts and then a basket underneath, remove the carburetor and flip it over in a rag to catch the fuel, then remove the screws holding the fuel float bowl on, carefully work the bowl loose to avoid tearing the bowl gasket, if you do damage it you will need a carburetor repair kit. Once the float bowl is removed remove the floor and the needle valve at the fuel inlet, set them aside, using a can of spray carburetor cleaner spray the inside of the carb and then blow through the jets with compressed air to dislodge the dirt (this is a must) that is obstructing fuel flow and causing the lean stall out, reverse and reinstall you should be good to go.

Honda 5.5 engine, pull choke to crank , it runs

Here is the long answer with everything we learned while using a power washer twice a day for years:: You have already checked off some of the items, but it doesn't hurt to review

It sounds like could be one of the problems listed below or a combination of those things.
1) The exhaust is partially blocked. Check the screen covering exhaust port for carbon and dirt build-up. High-speed exhaust air must pass freely. We finally broke the exhaust screen out with a screwdriver to get our machine going one day.
2) Gas is not flowing freely to carburetor > under gas tank, find the rubber hose connected to carburetor. Pull off rubber hose and make sure gas flows freely. You can use this hose to drain gas tank of old gas ... and then put in fresh gas.
3) Carburetor is partially gummed up and engine cuts off when gas flow slows down. Buy some gum out, and then don't store power washer with gasoline in the tank. Or put additive in gas when storing machine.
4) The choke is letting in too much gas or not enough gas. Try different adjustments. The choke-lever on our power washer got so bad that we could not set throttle at full open or the machine would die. We still use the machine at 2/3 throttle, and then start it each time using WD-40 as described below.
5) Dirty air filter that won't let engine breath enough air to keep up with combustion. Take off air filter and see if problem persists.
6) The spark coil is going bad?? Change spark plug to see if problem persists. Is spark plug wire pushed all the way onto the spark plug?

Now the nitty gritty: we're gonna start that thing right now
7) Take off air filter. Spray WD-40 directly into carburetor. Yes, we use WD-40 every time to start my power washer, and we use the washer twice a week.
Spray in the WD-40, Pull the engine cord. The engine will fire on WD-40. Guaranteed.
Once it starts, keep spraying WD-40 directly into carburetor to keep engine going.
If engine will not fire and keep going on WD-40, then your spark is suspect.
If your engine fires and runs on WD-40 but dies without it, then your gas supply or carburetor are suspect
8) Carburetor problem >>> try Gum out >>> and then take machine to small engine repair shop
9) Spark ... take out spark plug. Put spark wire back on. Hold spark plug by spark wire. Touch metal threads of spark plug to metal opening where plug came out. Metal to metal. Pull back start cord and look for spark between the metal.
If you have no spark, then spark coil is bad >>> take machine to small engine repair shop

Having a difficult time starting engine. I tried

I have the same problem with my craftsman - I hold the trigger open on the wand as I pull the start cord. I also put some Sta-bil fuel stabilizer in the fuel to help it run. You may have broken an O-ring if you started your washer without water hooked up - it only takes a second to bully that o-ring. If so, either find your manual or call the dealer to see if they have another one so you can copy or at least look at the manual to know the how and where.
Hope this helps!

I just finished setting up my Homelite 2500 and

Buck up now. You did good turning it off. Check the oil and water as described below and then fire it up again.

The power washer is your friend, but do NOT wash off your shoes while wearing them. Or rinse your dog or your hand >> it will blow a hole in aforementioned.

1) Your water has to be turned on before firing up the pressure washer. Simply squeeze gun trigger while starting engine. Do NOT wire the trigger closed to start or use power washer wand. That is a good way for the thing to break free and punch a hole in your pants.
2) You need oil in engine and in pump > engine oil comes about half way up dip stick > pump oil comes up to middle of viewing window on pump head.

That's all there is to know. I think your new engine had a growing pain, and things are fine.

Honda is a good engine. We ran our first Honda power washer for years until it fell off the trailer upside down and the chain kept it tied to the trailer until the gas tank was sanded off by the freeway after which it caught fire for a bit. You will have better luck.

No high preasure at nozzle

Try starting the washer up without a nozzle clicked in and purging water through the pump, shut it down and install the nozzle and restart, if the motor lugs then it is making pressure, if the pump squirts water out of the by-pass immediately and or constantly it may be a stuck bypass and not a bad pump.

How much should good scaffold brick guards cost me?

These should be expensive, but they are nothing of the sort. You can pick up quality scaffold brick guards online for as little as £3.99. I use a company called BrikGard because they use 100% recycled plastic scaffold brick guards. I like to be as environmentally friendly as possible without compromising quality or increasing the purchase cost too much. Given that their brick guards are so cheap and made from 100% recycled plastic, I feel safe using them. Also, anyone working on-site should consider using a brick guard because it offers that extra layer of peace of mind so you can get focused on the job without worrying about things like falling debris coming down and striking you. For affordable scaffold brick guards, I would check out BrikGard.
