Repair man told me this is common with front load washers. I was told to put Sunlight dish washing detergent (for dishwashers not hands) in the machine (about 1/2 cup) and do a hot wash with the machine empty.

LG front load washer spinsense buttom does not come on

I have the LG WM3988HWA, which is a washer and dryer in one. The way it works on ours is that you press and hold the Spinsense button for 3 seconds before you start a wash, or while a wash is paused. When Spinsense is on, the LCD will say "Spinsense" on the right-hand side when the machine is running. Nothing happens with the light on the Spinsense button.

Spinsense makes a huge difference as the machine is on the second floor of our old wooden house. I don't even notice the spin cycle with Spinsense on.

Problems:
1. We need to turn it on for every load. This is just annoying.
2. Spinsense will not turn on when you've the Dryer option activated. This means we have to do two trips to the machine for each load, or have our house feel like it's shaking to pieces. There's no good reason that the Spinsense/Dryer shouldn't work.

start/pause button doesn't work

My LG WM-1832CW front load washer will not turn on once it has been programmed for a load. All the lights are on, but it fails to acknowledge the pressure on the button. It started by doing this occasionally, then more regularly, requiring several presses of the button. It became more and more difficult to start until now, when it will not start at all.

I had this problem with another model LG washer dryer and the problem was just the tiny switch (6mm x 6mm) on the circuit board had worn out. They cost about 30 pence on eBay and are very easy to remove and re-solder onto the circuit board as there are only 2 pins. This saved a huge amount of money for a new control board.

LG Washing Machine Model # WM1832CW, Error LE shows up

Washing machine starts , water is let into the system and then when the wash cycle begines it seems to struggle with changing direction of the wash drum and buzzes and trys to go back and forth to change direction but wont. Sooner or later the LE error shows up in the screen and the unit stops trying to work. It seems like it doenst have to power to change the direction fo the unit. The drum rolls freely when not in use. This even happens when there are not clothers in it so it is not an overweight issue.

Trouble shooting steps for LE error on WM1832CW:

1. Open back of the washing machine and control panel. Locate two wire harness coming out of main motor and main board. Check the wires for any cuts and harnesses for any corrosion. Fix the cuts and sand the corrosion to fix the issue.

2. Check the windings on the motor by pulling 3-wire connector from main board. Check resistance between each of 3 pairs using multi meter. The resistance should be 8-15 ohms. If one or more pair has no resistance reading then the winding is burned. Replace the rotor winding.
Rotor windings can be ordered from here: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-wm1832cw-%3d%3di1266809&PartID=1266809

3. If windings are fine then the hall sensor or speed sensor or motor sensor or sensor assembly needs to be replaced. The hall sensor sits on the inside of the rotor winding. Hall sensor has 4 wire connector attached. To remove the hall sensor: Open the outrunner or magnetic rotor from the motor first. Remove a big bolt at the center of the motor by holding the magnetic rotor. Once bolt is removed, the magnetic rotor can be removed by simply pulling it straight out. You may have to wiggle it a bit. Now remove a screw holding a wire going to hall sensor towrds bottom left of the winding. Now remove six inside bolts holding rotor windings to the drum body. The rotor windings are heavy so be careful while removing the bolts. Remove two wire connectors from the rotor windings and pull out the windings. Lay the rotor windings flat facing connector side up. Remove the hall sensor by praying out tabs.

Hall sensor can be ordered from here: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-wm1832cw-%3d%3di1268238&PartID=1268238

Getting error code on lg front loader washer

I have a lg wm1832 front load washer that gives me an error code of fs. Can you help me with this problem.

Hello aj546,
Kinda figured there was a miscue there with your error code however... the error code FE refers to the fact that water is overflowing ( normally means the inlet water valve is stuck open and continues to let in water beyond the expected and/or sensed level.. so the water pump turns on to drain it and keep the level down. This kind of problem would probably warrant a aservice call from a tech since the majority of troubleshooting would require diagnosing the failed component itself and is not something that I recommend you try. There are too many pieces of hardware that have a direct impact on how this works and I highly doubt you want to play the shotgun approach..try this to see if it fixes the problem and if not..try that...
Before calling for service.. try this..
remove or disconect ac power from the washer..let it sit unplugged for at least an hour..then try washing 1 towel at the lowest cold water setting to see if that works ..if it does..repeat the process using only hot water.. if that works... then try the same test using warm water.. ( this test may help determine if the water inlet valve .,.either hot or cold is leaking through it)... If you still get the FE test..call for service.. That's the best I can offer via this chanel... BTW..if only one of the two tests fails.. ( Hot water only generates an FE error.. then chances are the hot water inlet solenoid valve assembly is either sticking open or the controls to that are commanding it to remain open... Hope that helped you..'
Regards,
Rick

LG front load washer/ clothes still wet after final spin

I washed a medium weight jacket and after the Speed Wash was complete, the jacket was still soaking wet. I put it through the Rinse/Spin cycle two times with the same result. Then I put it through the Spin Only cycle, and the jacket was still soaking wet. I watched the cycle, and it seemed to spin very slowly, not fast enough to get rid of the water. How can I speed up the spin?

The heavy jacket prevented the washer from spinning at a rapid pace, so I added a heavy bathrobe to absorb some of the water and to balance the load. The washer then spun very quickly and drained out all the water.

I had the same problem and it was a bad sensor assembly (#6501KW2002A). You can order
it from an online electronics store (www.mcminone.com). Cost is approx. $20.

I fixed it based on a thread from 2007:
See http://www.fixya.com/support/t159708-lg_washer_wm1832c

But, here's what I did:
1. Unplug the machine.
2. Take off the back plate that has 4 small screws.
3. Unscrew the big bolt in the middle.
4. Take off the hubcap looking part the bolt was securing.
5. Unclip the two sets of wires on the bottom of the circle you are looking at
(the set of wires to the right are connected to the sensor assembly you want to replace).
6. Unscrew the 6 smaller bolts to take off the circular piece that the sensor assembly is snapped to.
7. Mark with a pen where the sensor attaches so you know where to snap the new one.
8. Unclip the old sensor assembly and clip on the new one
9. Reassemble.

Le error code on my LG washer.

Le error code.

On LG Washers the code LE is for motor overload protection.
Ensure that you are not overloading washer, make sure to clean pump by draining at little door at lower left corner(check manual for instructions), unplug for 30 minutes to reset, now try running cycle again. if it fails again something else is causing the motor to work to hard and will require a professional.

HOW CAN LE ERROR ON LG WASHER MODEL WM1832CW?

I HAVE UNPLUGGED, I HAVE RESET BY HOLDING START PAUSE BUTTON FOR AT LEAST 10 SECONDS, BOTH AS SUGGESTED BY LG AGENTS. THE WASHER RUNS WATER IN,THEN THE TUB WILL TURN (AGITATION, SO TO SPEAK), THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE LE ERROR CODE WILL APPEAR. I CAN PRESS START/PAUSE BUTTON AND MACHINE WILL START WHERE IT LEFT OFF, THEN AFTER A FEW MOMENTS THE LE ERROR CODE SHOWS BACK UP. SHOULD I JUST CALL A REPAIRMAN AND IF SO IS THIS AN EXPENSIVE ORDEAL?

LE indicates a fault with the motor on the appliance.

LG suggest you switch off, wait for a minute, unplug the appliance.

Wait 15 minutes then plug it back in again.

Try the machine again.

If it's still faulty, you can try changing the Hall Sensor in the motor, this can sometimes cure the problem.

Unplug the machine and remove the rear cover. There are 4 Philips head screws. Take them out and remove the rear cover.

You should now see the rear of the motor, which is mounted to the back of the drum.

In the middle is a large bolt which holds the stator cover.

You'll need a 17mm socket and a ratchet to remove this bolt.

Remove the stator cover and place aside.

Toward the bottom-left, you will see a couple of wire bunches held to the motor by three screws. One holds a metal bracket, one actually holds a ground wire, and the last is through a plastic bracket toward the bottom. Remove these three screws and don't lose them.

Through the motor there are 6 bolts holding it onto the back of the drum assembly.

You'll need a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove them.

You will now have the motor off the back of the drum.

Disconnect the two wire harnesses from the motor.

Looking at the surface of this motor that was facing the DRUM (not the outside), you'll see two small pieces clipped onto it, toward the bottom.

The sensor you are looking to replace is the one that looks like a kitchen magnet.

It is attached by small clips. You'll see how it goes on. It's easy to remove.

Go to google and search for part number 6501KW2002A.

This will bring up an LG sensor assembly.

Double check with the supplier that this is the sensor for your appliance.

When you receive the sensor, simply reverse steps 1 through 5.

Once re assembled, try the machine again.

If still the same after this you'll need to replace the motor and/or control board.
