LG DLE2514 Electric Dryer - Page 6 Questions & Answers
My dryer won't shut off. The timer gets stuck at 6
It appears that you need to replace the timer. Also try unplugging it for about 15 minutes, if it is an electronic glitch, sometimes powering it down, and then back on corrects this issue, but it is more often a problem with the timer.
DRYER WILL RUN BUT NOT DRYING THE CLOTHES
Hi,
When the dryer won't heat it is the thermostat/thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.
Hope this will help....

you will need to use a putty knife on the top of the dryer(about 3" in from the corners), top lifts up may want to make sure the top can rest against the wall. Here is a manual not for your model but it is the same difference, Page 37 on shows how to take apart. Good Luck Tim:

My dryer DLE 2514W does
disconnect vent hose and run a load of clothes, if they are dry then the vent hose is restricted/clogged. if for some reason it is doing the same then take dryer apart and clean from lint screen back, I am almost certain that it is the vent tube.

My gas dryer heats up
Feel your pain. Unplug wait a minute then plug in. Hopefully it will help. This is what I had to do. Don't know why this works at times...or at least buy us some time. I will never buy another LG product. No one wants to work on them or knows how. I'm on the 3rd mother board of my dryer, purchased dryer in 2006. First mother board it came with....shot...called LG, they sent me with some yahoos that replaced it with a refurbished mother board. Was under warranty until it expired, and guess what. That one needed replaced. Got a new mother board(3rd one in it now)....same problem is starting again. Worked great since 2007 after #3 was put in until now. If it needs #4 mother board eventually.....may just need to buy a whole new dryer and it won't be an LG. Got to get something that repairmen know what to do with. I hope unplugging it solves your problem, otherwise, I'm so sorry. I have the DLE2514W......(the W represents the color, white)
The dryer counts down to 6 minutes and then won't
Call repairman....had this happen before too....had to have mother board replaced....about a $300 bill. Guess what else. After 3 years of having mother board replaced...it started doing the same thing. IF I was to get it replaced again...it would be the 4th one in machine. Don't buy LG again...Life is NOT good with LG. No one wants to work on them, or they don't know how. Stick with American made for appliances, at least someone will come out and attempt to fix it. LG customer service only tells you a few that will work on them in your area. Not enough. Good Luck and I feel your pain.
Dryer makes noise and will
Usually a bad start winding in the motor. Very rarely is it a wiring problem to the motor, especially when it is making noise. This means you have to replace the motor, after examining the wiring going to the motor. Fairly expensive repair. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape or with an ohm meter to test the thermostat/thermistor. (Should have/show continuity)
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
(Thermal fuse.If it overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST.
This could cause a FIRE, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

WONT HEAT
Must check the voltage to the heater when the cycle is ON. If there is voltage with no heat then the heater is faulty.
If not the program controller needs a check as the voltage to the heater are not switched.
