Air Switch Repair
It sounds like you have a bad air switch located in your motor.
The air switch is what the air hose connects to on the back of the motor or on the box on top of the motor. The other end of the air hose is connected to the air button on the lip of the tub.
This is a latching air switch and when you push the air button it latches to send power to the motor. When the air button is pushed again it opens the latch in the air switch and stops power going to the motor shutting it off.

Disconnect the power for a min or two and then turn it back on this should reset everything back to default. Then go through the setup instruction as if you were starting new. If that dosen't do it the control unit is faulty.

Bubble bath is definitely out of the question. Provide any of the products that you are using do not have a detergent base or bubbles so to speak, you can use them. Depending on how many times a week you use it you might want to get a cleaner that they use on hot tubs from you local pool distributer. I hope this helps you.

No more than any other household major appliance. The motor, heater, and any other options are standard 110 volt so the average cost to operate your whirlpool is only pennies a day.

So this happened 6 weeks ago. If I read between the lines, I will assume that you may have just acquired this house a short time ago.

And since you are talking about an "air switch", I will assume this is an air tub.

Air tubs are designed to turn the air blower on in a pre-determined time after the water has been drained. This function blows out the remaining water in the lines and jets to reduce water accumulation and bacteria buildup.

I hope this is helpful

Did you turn the outer rings on the jets? They could be turned off. They are used to adjust the bubble flow, but also to turn them on or off.

You have some bacteria build up on the inside of your tubing of the tub.
Try some cleaning solutions per directions on the bottle of tub cleaner made specifically for this situation.
