Makita 10" Miter Saw LS1030N Questions & Answers
Makita miter saw wontr turn on
make sure that your outlet is hot, once verfied that you have power going to the plug of the saw cord, verify that you dont have any breaks in the cord itself. once verified no issues with cord you can check for power at the switch, if there is power at the switch but not coming on, probably bad switch. The spring that holds up the saw came out of place
I found
this diagram online, as I only have access to the full Makita (UK) tech data at work. The spring, pin and dish look like they sit on the rear part of the table/base and go up inside the back part of the guard housing. I can't really tell from this diagram how it is all fixed in place, but you should be able to see how and where it goes together, and hopefully be able to suss it out from there.
When changing brushes on the LS 1013, should I be
No , solvent could remove the insulation. lightly dress the armature only where the brushes contact the copper contacts with 600 grit sand paper. It should be shiny. By the book you should only use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts so if you use sand paper be very careful or you could cause irreparable damage. Then be sure to wipe the filings away with a soft cloth, a little rubbing alcohol is helpful.
Change blade Makita LS1030 10-Inch Compound Miter saw
There is an 8mm bolt on the front of the guard. Loosen/remove this and the central guard mount will drop slightly. Behind the metal guard is a slide lock for the blade spindle. Push the lock bar and turn the blade untill it catches and is held solid. Then remove the blade fixing bolt and bobs your uncle. Alternativly, with all mitre saws, you can just pop an old bit of wood on the work base and then use the spannrer/allen key supplied to turn the blade so it bites into the wood as if you are trying to cut it. This will hold the blade steady and you will also be turning the bolt in the right direction.
Replace switch on chop saw
unplug tool, remove the top of the handle assembly, either take a picture or write yourself a wiring schematic before removing anything, I would suggest taking a photo so you know where the safety device goes and the wiring, loosen the screws and remove and replace the switch.
Makita LS1221, started heavy sparking
you need to make sure the brushes move freely in the tubes and if they do I would suspect the armature is bad. LOOK for discoloration in the commutator thru the brush tubes.
How do I replace the blade guard on my 10" Makita
If you want to replace the plastic cover there is a screw towards the front of the saw that must be removed and then the bolt at the back loosened and the guard will pull off. If you need more info get back to me with the other questions and I will try and help
How do I assemble the blade guard for my Makita
lay the spring into the plastic safety cover, you will see a catch for one portion of the spring, the cover plate goes over it and there is a tab on it to catch the loose end and then the center plate which screws on to hold everything in place, check by turning the plate that holds it onto the saw for free movement. You can go to makitausa.com and in the header area on the right type in your model number ls1030n and you can download or look at a breakdown to see what I am talking about. Square up fence to blade
with the tool unplugged from power . u need a good square drop the blade down to cutting position place thesquare against the fence then slide it up to the teeth on the blade making sure u are against the teeth . if not square in the zero position on the scale undo the fixing bolts for the fence and adjust till the square shows no gap between fence and blade teeth . retighten bolts and check . plug in and make a cut . or u could just make cuts and move fence till get it right . i should add with straight edge make sure the fence itself is straight across its face. with one piece fences they can get bent. good luck.
Problem appears to be the
first make sure the blade guard is correctly tightened. then if that is correct you have a problem with the link bar and the center plate of the guard. they might be worn or not smooth, I generally try to sand both surfaces cleanly and apply a dry lubricant to them to ensure proper movement. If that does not work they would need to be replaced.
