All parts fail at some point, but if it just doesn't run at all, it is either the motor, switch, batteries, or finally the charger is defective and not charging the batteries allowing the unit to run. Here is the breakdown with part numbers.

ptrepair_12.jpg I would expect that it is either the switch or motor. Sadly this model does not have replaceable brushes, and that would be the first item I would scrutinize.

The nailer must be firmly pressed against the surface you are planning to nail. This will arm the nailer in preparation for firing the nail.

no, but there may be an overload fuse. My guess is that it is part 62 here, but not available. Take it to a DeWalt service centre

It is available here, but is $88. Lot of money to lay out on a guess, which is all the more reason to get it looked at professionally. It may also be the motor windings burned out.

Either the blades are incorrectly installed causing the head to jam or the safety cover is not installed properly - there is a safety mechanism that locks the cutter head when the cover is removed.

Typical cause is low voltage - but can also be a bent driver or something jammed in the nail track.
Is this a finish nailer or framing nailer?

That symptom usually indicates a low voltage issue - not sure how the adapter may affect this, I've never run them with a 20v battery.
Try it with a standard 18v and see if you have the same issue - please comment back with the results, I'm curious.
