Pride Luxury Line Maxima Scooter - 4 Wheel - Forest Geen Questions & Answers
Rolls to a stop then jerks hard
Replace engager assembly, dial-a-speed pot and try again. These are common wear items (about every 3-6 years with or without use.)
If issue continues you have a bad controller... which is not common.
Battery not charging
Is the charger working? They do fail.
How old are the batteries? They have a lifespan of + - two years.
Has your main charger/ battery fuse blown?
Pride may tell you as they told me that it doesn't have one, nevertheless I found mine below the floor hatch under the foot mat ... and? It was blown. It's a standard 10 Amp car fuse, it cost a few cents and the problem was fixed.
The provider had said that it was definately my batteries and that he would replace them at €157.00 He didn't seem interested when I told him that they were already new! " One of them will be faulty then" he said.
Find that fuse, it's not in the tiller fuse box - but please don't forget that there is a risk of a power short or a bad electric shock be very careful and/ or get an electrician's help.
How many miles can I travel on one fully charged battery
That is hard to determine because of the variables such as your weight, the age and charge level of the batteries, the terrain condition such as hills, the roadway surface and the pressure in the tires if they aren't solid. You should get around 15 miles or so under ideal conditions.
I have not charged my battery in a couple years so
You can get them anywhere batteries are sold. You need gel cell batteries that provide 30 amps at 12 volts. Check the numbers on the battery for proper height and width . You can get them on line too, but batteries are heavy so shipping will be high.
Have a Pride Maxima 4
Hi,
I see you checked everything but still the unit will not run at all.
Here is a
link where you can as well download the Manual and information on how the wiring and assembly should be.
I check your concern, the only possible causes could be related to power I believe you mentioned that you already check all connections right, I guess it won't hurt to check the + and - Terminals have the correct cable to it, also make sure the both battery Harnesses are from both batteries are are plugged into their mating Harnesses leading to the charger.
I have a Pride maxima
hi.
there is a long list of things that could cause this problem.
if you have pneumatic tyres, make sure they are not soft. this can cause a lot of extra resistance, and cause overheating.
a dragging brake could could do this, but would be unusual. the brake unit would also feel extremely hot to touch if this is the case. you are more likely to have dry bearings on the wheels and transmission, or something wrapped (grass is common) around the axle. spin the front wheels to make sure they are free, and put the scooter in freewheel (lever or button on back of scooter) to do the same with the back wheels and axle.
another possibility is that the batteries are faulty. this can be confirmed with a battery load test which most garages can perform free of charge. the batteries should be fully charged for this and removed from the machine. a 100amp load test for 6-8 seconds should be enough for these batteries.
also make sure that any cooling fins and the area around the controller is clean and free from dirt that could prevent the unit from cooling properly.
another thing to check is that the weight limint for the scooter is not being exceeded. you will have to check the scooter manual for the exact weight limits.
these are the most common things that can cause this problem, and should be checked before doing any further tests.
please feel free to ask for further information if these steps do not resolve the problem.
hope this helps
My husband in Ottawa, Ontario
Check your owner's manual for the type of battery needed, it is most likely a U1 12 volt, 33amp battery and you will need 2 of them. You can find them at places like Batteries Plus or Interstate Batteries, or any other industrial battery store. They are heavy; if you cannot get on the floor to do it yourself, look in your phone book under Durable Medical Equipment Providers to see if there is a scooter or wheelchair store that may be able to assist you.
Good luck!
I have a 2006 Pride Maxima. Problem comes and goes.
Hi Alex. Does this problem happen when you first turn on the scooter, or does it happen while you are riding the scooter.
It might possibly be that the speed lever ( wig wag ), is not correctly adjusted, or is worn.
Test the lever is correctly adjusted by sitting on the machine with the key on. Slowly move the lever in the forward direction, until you hear the brake click. Take note of how far the lever moved. Now move the lever in the reverse direction until you hear the brake unit click. The distance the lever moved, should be the same in both cases.
Also while you are driving your machine try moving the ends of the lever slowly up and down. If this makes the machine change speed erratically, then you probably need a new throttle pot, or speed lever assembly.
Does your machine show any fault codes or flashing LED's.
Hope this helps. Neil.
It isn't charging ... I have a new charger and new
Hi. Check the main battery fuses. These are under the black heat shrink half way along the red positive battery leads.
Also use a multi-meter, and plug the probes into the charger socket on the scooter. You should be able to read the full battery voltage on the meter. If you can't, there will be a faulty connection somewhere.
I service Pride scooters here in New Zealand, and I find them reliable.
Good luck. Neil.
I was given a Triton PL3-01 mobility scooter.
