My old GE oven (JSP38G052BG)

Hello ediben11.

If your oven's bake or the broiler heating elements won't heat but the range burners still work;the clock may be set for a timed or self-cleaning cycle. So,make sure to check the clock buttons and the knobs are set properly.
*If your clock has a knob that says "push for manual" then push the knob in after that, try the baking and broiling elements again.

*If it still does not work properly, you may have a defect in the thermostat/selector switch/common wiring.

*If the oven does not have a separate bake or broil selector switch; then the thermostat is probably the problem. It is not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Hope this helps.

I have the part I need, but I need to disassemble

Remove the outer cover from the microwave oven to gain access to the door hinges. With the door off, and lying face down on the table, carefully pop-or-pry the plastic door seal off the inside. Presto, access.

F-9 error on my LG lmvm1945t microwave

The F9 problem in this microwave is a bad magnetron or inverter.

From other users:

"F-9 on this microwave IS inverter related. My problem was the magnatron and checked out bad with the help of (the tech sheet). It would run for a few seconds making clicks and then say F-9. It has been working great since I replaced the magnatron."

"f9 Kenmore Elite 36 " over tne counter microwave is supplied by LG made by Gold Star, made in China. It's main problem is the high voltage inverter board supplyed by Sears Parts. If you get a F-9 code on your microwave display screen2.gif and the micro quits it's probably this board. Reset the machine by pulling the power plug and waiting an hour. If it is the high voltage board is at fault it will probably fail after 45 seconds of start up. This part is really hard to get at but is less than $100. A qualified technician should be able to remove and repair this item in less than hour. Some techs will quote you $300 labor, don't buy it, it should cost a $100 or less. No need to buy another microwave."

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for several minutes or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it fails again and you or someone you know decide to look into it further, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number at the
Sears parts site.

The magnetron probably has an extended warranty beyond the normal one year parts and labor warranty.

So I would consult your owner's manual or contact Sears for details on the warranty.

To get your owner's manual, just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View Manuals" button.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they will ask you to register.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Microwave Does Not Heat.

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

If it additionally does not spin and no light, then check also the door switch.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be alloweddischarge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even ifpower is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their twocontacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

No lites and fan actions.

Does it heat? If so, then The problem is likely on the control panel, which we repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

The light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, causing a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on.

Touch-pads unresponsive

Some newer models have a child lock feature which can be accessed via a HELP or CUSTOM HELP pad. On recent LG models, try pressing the "0" key for 5 seconds. You may also have a bad keypad, which in many cases can be replaced. A bad keypad may be worn out due to age, damaged, or it may have gotten wet or otherwise contaminated. Has anyone ever sprayed cleaner directly on the keypad? Has anyone ever boiled on the stovetop without running the hood vent fan? Is the hood vent clogged? Any of these can cause moisture buildup on the control circuit board or in the keypad, which can cause odd problems like this. I warn my customers to never spray cleaner directly onto the microwave keypad, since the liquid can get inside and "lock up" or even ruin the keypad or controller. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) to a cloth (since paper towels can scratch) and gently wipe it off. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics. Please let me know if I can help further: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

My new LG solardome MA3884vc overheats melamine plate @30 seconds

If your LG Solardome microwave oven is overheating a melamine plate within 30 seconds, there could be a few potential issues at play:
  1. Power Settings: Check to see if the power settings on your microwave are too high. If it's set to a high power level, it can cause certain materials, like melamine, to overheat quickly. Try reducing the power level and see if that helps.
  2. Plate Material: Melamine plates are not suitable for use in microwave ovens as they can overheat and potentially release harmful chemicals into your food. It's recommended to use microwave-safe dishes made of glass, ceramic, or microwave-safe plastic.
  3. Microwave Performance: If the microwave is consistently overheating items within such a short time frame, it might indicate a malfunction. In this case, it's best to contact LG customer support or a certified technician to inspect and repair the microwave.
  4. Placement and Usage: Ensure that the plate is placed centrally on the turntable and not touching the sides of the microwave. Also, avoid using the microwave for extended periods without interruption, as this can cause overheating.
  5. Testing with Different Materials: Try using a microwave-safe ceramic or glass plate to see if the issue persists. If other materials heat up quickly as well, it could indicate a problem with the microwave itself.

I have a new Kitchen Aid Convection Microwave with air fryer. I've not yet used the air fryer, but today I put a pan with a roast and set to convection roast and turned it on. I put the aluminum foil over the top of the pan and it sparked. I don't know why this happened. I'd sure like someone to let me know.

How to remove door COVER from door of LG Microwave model LMHM2017ST

Here are the steps to remove the door cover from the door of your LG Microwave model LMHM2017ST:
  1. Unplug the microwave from the power source.
  2. Open the microwave door and locate the four screws on the inner edge of the door.
  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws.
  4. Carefully separate the outer door panel from the inner door panel.
  5. You will now see the door cover attached to the outer door panel.
  6. Use a flathead screwdriver or plastic pry tool to gently pry the door cover off of the outer door panel. Start at one corner and work your way around the edge.
  7. Once the door cover is removed, you can replace it with the brushed silver cover from the new door.
  8. To reassemble the door, simply snap the new cover onto the outer door panel and then reattach the outer door panel to the inner door panel using the four screws you removed earlier.
Make sure to be careful when removing the door cover, as it can be fragile and may break if handled roughly.
