This does not sound normal, but in order to better diagnose this I need to know exactly what model of controls your spa has. This is easily found on a label on top of the control box in the spa cabinet. If the label is missing, then remove the control box cover and look at the inside of the cover for the schematic, should be a model number on it.

No power to the display panel
Watch the panel as somone turns the power off and on and see if anything shows up like dashes. The only way to check a panel/ keypad is with a good one

I have a balboa 8 man spa. We shut it off to drain
YES it is the heater that is at fault.
you have 2 white water pipes that attach to heater that will need to be unscrewed (best to do with spa empty) and it depends on what control system you as to advise on heater removal. some heaters have pressure switches and others have 2x sensors or they may have both. also your heater will be held into place by brackets that are normally 8mm

Just purchest a balboa calafornian worket for two
your electrician should be able to advise you on this.
unplug each plug from control box and run to see if spa works, if not then a service engineer would be best to have a look and advise

Upper control panel flickers and
how old is spa?
if new then circuit board maybe set on a mode setting that is used when being tested in the factory, locate dipswitch block on circuit board and move dip switch for MODE, should have a layout of dip switches on reverse of lid to control box
if older then you may need a new control panel (top side)

Marquis Hot Tub, Instrument Panels (Balboa
The topside controls aren't fused so the fuses wont be the cause.
It can only be either the PCB, the topside controls, or a bad connection at fault. Check that they are plugged in correctly, make sure that the PCB is configured correctly for your topside controls.
It's rare for both the main and auxilary topside controls to fail. You can try plugging in another main topside control without fully installing it... at least you can then return it (ask whether or not return are accepted, I don't personally accept any returns if parts are specially ordered) if it doesn't cure the problem.

Just installed new heater - error code sns -
Assuming that there are no air-locks and the pump is running ok....
Check the sensor connections on the PCB and make sure that they're clean and secure.
If the fault persists, (with the power turned off) you will need to remove the sensor connections and test the resistance of the sensors with an ohm meter. They should read the same. If they're different you will need to replace them.

Hello
If you suspect a bad breaker, that is an easy troubleshooting idea. In some cases you can swap the wire to a different breaker, of the same value, in the panel. This temporary swap would tell you if the fault is in the breaker or the circuit. If you do not have another breaker of the same value , then you would have to buy one for this self check.
The next step would be to check the wiring from the breaker to the device. Disconnect the device and try to reset the breaker. This will tell you if the fault is in the feed wires or the device or in the device itself.

Our hot tub keeps tripping the gfi breaker, but if
The GFI is sensing a fault, and tripping to protect you. If there is another GFI in the circuit somewhere then you could use that normal receptacle. I mean if there is a GFI in the main panel.

I have a balboa spa and on the led it reads DRY
Dry means that there's insufficient flow of water through the heater, or non at all.
1) Check the water level - top up if low.
2) Ensure that all jets are open and flow water - if they don't you may have a pump issue.
3) Remove the filter(s) and see whether or not this clears the fault, if so clean or replace the filters.

Ian.

My hot tub still trips the breaker, and i replaced
If your hot tub is pulling more amps than amps sent your breaker box, you'll keep tripping the breaker. Check the rating on the hot tub and compare that to the breaker rating. You may need to uograde the wireing. Make sure the wire gauge is up to code.
