did you cleen the fins on the inside remove them and clean them verry well

This is a Common Problem in these Models. I could tell you a Couple of Solutions that worked with many Customer's :-

A )

1. 1 - Turn on (Low position) although the Red light is on
2 - Release the Rear plastic Grid (or Front plastic grid, or both of them) : That stop the unit automatically
3 - Replace it and make sure it's well locked : the unit turns on automatically.

After that, my unit works well, no more Red light.

B )

My Ionic Breeze would work for a short time after cleaning and the blue light would start flashing again. I checked the wall cube power adapter with a volt meter. It was putting out only 10 volts instead of the needed 12 volts. It seems The Ionic Breeze needs a full 12-13 volts to work. So I went to Radio Shack and bought a universal 12 volt 800ma power adapter. I checked the voltage in the new adapter, it was 13 volts. This fixed the flashing blue light problem. The Ionic Breeze produces harmful Ozone gas, so I don't use it anymore.

Try cleaning the collection grid. If that doesn't work, try blowing out the dust inside the unit. (Air compressor if you have it would be helpfull.) Otherwise you may have to just buy another grid. Not that many online try ebay.

Hi, Please check to see is that there are no fine pieces of lint that are bridging the plates or the ionizing wires to ground because the strong metal odor might be cause by theses pieces of lints or some rusted part of the air purifier..........

Check that there are no fine pieces of lint that are bridging the plates or the ionizing wires, to ground.

Check the contact points of the collector cell and inside the unit.

The light is caused by a shorted collector cell and associated components.

these are not real air purifiers a big screen TV recycles more air than one of these units, you are better off installeing an electronic air cleaner at your air handler or furnace

Likely so these units usually put out ozone into the air in your home which is a known lung irritant. If you truly have indoor air quality issues the only way to properly attack it is through three steps
source control - what's causing it(uv lights to kill it usually)
ventilation - bring in fresh outdoor air and exhaust stale indoor air(ERVs and HRVs depending on your climate some dealers won't sell these if they don't offer it to you they are dumb find someone who does they are Recovery Ventilators)
filtration - a whole home filtration system (look to dealers who carry Lennox who is the only company with a 100% ozone free product line and the highest filtration rates available on the market "MERV 16" filters or Trane is ok as well as Carrier systems)

Same problem : after cleaning thoroughly inside by removing the Front& Rear Plastic grid and the stainless blades, I also cleaned the 2wires (very softly and carrefully, not to break them), but the Redlight goes on after only few minutes :

After that, my unit works well, no more Red light. Maybe it will work for you. I also found this other bit of information. Since then I have discovered a lot of information on the midi. Here is some more reading material that might interest you.

Could be a blade replacement needed but Sharper Imagerecalled the product. Since it was proven in court that it wasn'teffectively cleaning the air by Consumer Reports as well as EPA data. As a result of the legal action, Sharper Image filed for Chapter 11.

Sharper Image was giving customers a small rebate for the product since it was proven to be ineffective for cleaning the air by Consumer Reports as well data by the EPA.

This has caused a mess for Sharper Image that they went into bankruptcy as a result of it. The Consumer Products Safety Commissionis going to be making a decision on ionizers at the end of year sincethere are hazards in the air from using the devices. It could be thationizers are no longer sold in the US next year.

The industry should have been regulated and unfortunately the government never did anything about it until Sharper Image and Consumer Reports went to court on it. The next step to do if you can't get it to work is to file a report with the company.

My professional series Ionic breeze GP blows out what seems to be clean air but the purple lights inside it are no longer working. Can anyone tell me where I can find replacement bulbs or just what I need to do to get it working again. I got it as a gift 4 or so years ago. The gift giver says there was a 5 year warranty on it but I am not sure. Any advice would be helpful.

Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it. Hi there,

Initially there was 2 switch on this unit. One closes if the back cover is on, the other closes when the removeable grid is in.

Check this switch for any problem also check the wiring connections for any loose or cut into the terminals. A possible bad switch is the problem.
