Dewalt Planer motor doesn't work. Are brushes
Hello. If your planer was working before you installed new brushes, then definitely. If the planer was purchased used, and it has never worked, it could be the brushes but more likely the motor is burned out. These planers are not commercial workhorses and some people use them that way. For instance, these little motors are designed to remove about 1/16 of an inch of material at a time, not 1/4. If you can not get it up and running take it or ship it to the nearest Dewalt service center.

the knives may not be completely square on the cutter head, which may cause wider boards to track due to uneven depth of planing. if the rollers are worn or perhaps crooked somehow, this can also cause tracking of boards. same thing for the base, if it is worn, bent, or otherwise not setting properly it can also cause the boards to move like that.

I have a new 735 Dewalt planer - it does not feed
I believe this is probably the first time you have used this planer correct?
I would run several pieces through before you try anything you will be concerned with getting oil on. There may be excess oil on the rollers that will take a bit to get off. If you are concerned about this it will not hurt to clean the rollers. Taking it apart for general maintenance and to inspect and change the blades is a good idea. Especially if this is all new for you. It never hurts to become familiar with something before you need to.
Although the diagrams I included are may seem complicated (and you may already have them as well), Take some time to look them over and become familiar with the workings of your planer. The DW735 is a pretty good portable planer. Hope this helps.
