You will need to a Poulan Tool and Adjust the Carb. There will be 2 round nobs on the top of the Carb. You can get those tools at any Lawnmower Repair shop for a few buck. Be sure to Take your machine in and show the guy because there are different nobs on different Carbs. If you own a Poulan you will need it all the time anyway. LOL Good Luck!!

Hello Sullivan. It is possible that the piston is seized, especially if someone used it with the wrong mix of gas and oil, or just straight gas. Unfreezing it is not a big job but with the cost of repairs these days I recommend this: get a free estimate. Then compare that to the cost of a new one. Keeping in mind that the new one will be under warranty for a while.
Personally I am impressed with the ECHO brand and their impressive 5 year warranty! Joe

Put new spark plug in new gas clean filter
The fuel system may need tending to. It may need new fuel lines, a cleaned fuel filter and the carburetor cleaned and adjusted. If this is an older unit, (even a couple years old) it may require some new internal carburetor parts as well. I don't like being the bearer of bad news, but this isn't always an easy fix. Your specific problem has to be diagnosed and by process of elimination, the problem resolved.

Hi again.
if carb is a zama, it is stamped on the bottome plate of the carb, if it isn't there its probley a walbro, which should be on the side of the carb in raised letters. I have rebuilt many of these carbs and have had very little luck in them working. Best to just stop fighting the bull and buy a new carb. They cost around 35 to 40 bucks.
I'm on yahoo as izuz1999, if i can be of any further help.

My Poulan 445 Pro's Gas tank brackets worn out
There probably is'nt a diagram to show this as there is a shortage of repair info on these units in the way of manuals etc. Most people feel they either run or they don't and treat them as a disposable item. The carb cable should have a dog-legged end on it and with the carb in place you should just be able to twist it slightly enough to drop into the butterfly valve shaft's end plate where the hole is...and make sure the raw part of the cable is around the back of any guides, so it doesn't bind up or interfere with the throttle action.
Trying to get my Poulan
These machines are typically at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to quality control and workmanship. Many are sold, but many turn to junk. You probably have the splined-head screws typical of a lot of these carbs..a Zama possibly. They have the carb adjusting tool for these for sale on Ebay. There are other home-made ways to loosen and adjust these screws too. Consistent starting probably won't be achieved till after you install a carb diaghram or rebuild kit and replace any old fuel lines and filter. Some of these engines run great and some are lemons.
Poulan 21cc weedeater - starts
On these types of motors that could be the problem, another thing to check is the primer bulb. I have had a primer bulb that had a small crack in it which went undetected for a while. These types of motors do not have a fuel pump and they work on a siphon type mechanism, if there is an air leak dealing with the gas tank anywhere, that is your problem.
It runs but cuts out with a load and never seems
First thing to check is the screen (spark arrestor) on the muffler if it has one. When these get clogged units often will idle fine, but not be able to rev up much or at all.
If the screen is clogged, clean it and reinstall it, should work fine then.
