The bearing on the armature of my Bosch 4000 table saw fell apart and now only the inner part of the bearing is on the armature. How can we remove this?
you will need a knife edge bearing puller available from an auto parts shop or a good tool shop
it will be a small puller that comes in to sections which are bolted together under the inner race of the bearing ( bit still in the shaft) and that section is attached to a bar with a screw through it that then pull the inner race off the shaft
or if you are very careful , you can use a 4" angle grinder with a 1mm cutting blade and cut across the bit at an angle NOT IN LINE WITH THE SHAFT -as that will give the blade clearance to the windings -- so that the blade is clear of the windings
cut down about 1/2 way then using a steel solid support under the bearing race , place a sharp cold chisel in the cut and using a ball pein hammer hit the chisel into the cut
that will crack the rest of the race and you can then get it off with your fingers
NOTE---IF YOU USE THE GRINDER AND YOU TOUCH THE WIRES WITH THE BLADE IT IS A NEW ARMATURE AS WELL AS BEARINGS SO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS METHOD
