Piston not retracting is caused by several issues. Bent or broken driver, worn piston oring or loose or broken check seal. Remove head and examine driver for bent or broken, adjust as needed. Check that piston oring fits snug, piston should not drop down cylinder under its own weight. Pull cylinder from body and check that black band (check seal) is in place around holes in cylinder. Why might my nail guns not work?
Have you lubricated either nail gun? If not, go to Home Depot and get a bottle of air tool oil. It's in tools by the compressors. Disconnect the air hose from the tool. Pour about a teaspoon of oil into the air inlet of the tool. Reconnect everything and try it 10-20 times with no nails in the tool. Then try it with nails. Good luck.
How to remove the chuck from a porter cable router?
To remove the collet (not the collet nut) you must first take apart the armature from the field.
To do this,
1. Take the cap off the top by removing the two Phillips screws.
2. Remove the two brushes.
3. Remove the two Phillips screws hidden under the cap.
4.The only thing holding the top and bottom pieces now is a friction fit of the bearings. Tap with a non marking hammer on the top housing underneath the brush holders, and it should come apart after a few taps.
5.Use an armature split sleeve and put the armature sleeve in a vice to hold the armature.
6.Then use a wrench and unscrew the collet from the armature.
7. Just reverse this process to put it back together.
