I HAVE AND EDDIE BAUER
One month old should not be in a car seat that allows for upright sitting. If it is convertible you have it in wrong. The seat should have a base unit which should be firmly fastened and the carrier should snap in and out of this base allowing you to carry your infant to and from the vehicle without having to detach the base every time you exit the vehicle. This is done so to prevent the unsafe installation of car seat under the stresses of time. If you seat is the kind that does not have a permanent base, go get one. It is very important that you do not modify the installation of any car seat for any reason. Placing a towel under the base as a barrier between the base and your seat is acceptable, but not to raise or lower the front or back as this may compromise its' design and decrease its' effectiveness. If you cannot figure it out, go to your local State Police Barracks where in most states they have a pregame designated for the safe installation of child infant seat carriers. This is very serious. The proper installation and choice in infant carriers can mean the difference of life and death in case of a relatively minor accident.
Do I need to tether
No the law does not state that you need to use a tether but you want to use to feel that your seat is more secure

Lost car seat instructions. How do I install
If it has a base and you car is equipped with mounting bracket there should be small metal hooks attached to canvas straps. Simply attach the hooks to the mounting points and tighten. If no mounting brackets you will have to remove the seat from the base. Pull the lap/shoulder belt all the way out, and on the base you should see plastic retaining slots. Weave the lap and shoulder belt through both sets of hooks on the base and pull tight. When the seat is mounted back to the base you should have very little movement when you wiggle the seat

I need to put the shlder/lap strap back in
the center of the belt will be under the seat coming up through the holes, place the two clips on the strap followed by the chest clip, then the neck protector pads. Push the ends of the strap through the two top holes. Route it down over the metal but under the plastic (on the back side) and attach both ends to the metal adjuster underneath. The receiver clip, you just turn 90 degrees and push through desired hole until the end catches.

How do I convert my car seat to a boster seat
Remove the large bar holding the bottom plate. One side will have a plastic retainer which you just move to the side and pull the barr all the way out from that side. There is a rear leg that you can pull down and back which will make the seat sit more upright. Remove the strap (it is one solid strap) and be sure to save all the parts if you plan on giving it to a needy family when your child outgrows it. The center clip is easy to remove, turn the seat upside down and find the metal retainer and pull it up, turn 90 degrees and feed it through the hole and pull on the other side. Now you should have a strap/clip free seat that will be a "seatbelt positioning booster seat".
Hi, I have my seat installed in a 2003 Envoy.
for a rear facing car seat, put a folded towel under the carseat where the back of the envoy seat meets the bottom cushion, this will bring the level indicators closer to level. Also, you might need to use more than one towel once you tighten the seat down.
How do you install and know if its reclined. my
u could use the safety straps on the back. or you could run the seatbelt through the holes at the bottom of the car seat. check your users manual from your explorer to see where the safety hooks are.

How do I convert my car seat to a boster seat
After heavy digging, I found the instruction manual for the Alpha Omega
Elite 3-in-1 Car Seat, #22-755-MAC and scanned it. If you are still
interested, let me know your email address and I'll send the section
that includes converting the car seat to a booster seat. The entire document is about 8 MB. I can send that if your email service can handle it.
