The typewriter didn't get to its home position...Make sure the cover is down..,nothing blocking the carriage from moving..check withe the power off...and nothing cought in the printwheel area.

try resetting the language with the lang key

When using the margin release DON'T HOLD IT DOWN just press and release. if this dosen/t work turn off the machine and see if the carrier will move both ways relatively freely if not look fot debris and spray a little WD40 on the silver shaft that it slides on.DickyO

Go to the margin, press but don't hold the mar rel key, space or backspace to the desired location, press L. or R. margin key dependingon which one you are setting.DickyO

I believe you are asking about the L. margin. Return to the margin, press but don't hold the MAR REL key. backspace to the desired location, press L. margin key.DickyO

Labels often have a glossy surface that correctable ribbons will not print well on.. Try these, move the impression control on the left to the largest dot, set up to print in bold, get a fresh ribbon not just another one off your shel.

I googled the part on the internet and saw a number of them available. I only looked at the first few results and found them priced from around $12 to $30 . Amazon had the widest price range. If you google "Nakajima Platen Knob" a number of results turn up. The Nakajima's were made by Swintec (or vice-versa) so the Swintec platen knobs are interchangable.

Check if the printwheel is properly installed Letters toward the platen.

Try a shot of WD4 on the silver shaft that the carrier slides o also the pulleys that the cables ride on.

Check the pitch selector slide switch mit should be in 10 or 12 not PS.

You may have debris on the paper tray. On the L. end of the platen is a metal latch, push it down and remove the platen .

First thing remove the ribbon turn the hand feed knob and see if the ribbonmoves if not you have a bad ribbon. The ribbon has 2 little feet thar hook on the ribbon deck and then it snaps down and latches into place. Go to NADIST.COM, Click on current models you will find a manual there.
