Assuming that its not jammed,??.... if its dead and you have no lights, no power etc etc...then you may have blown pcb inside machine...call Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.

there are 2 plugs in the back. one is on a short cord, the other is the regular power cord. BOTH must be plugged in. also, the shredder must be properly situated on top of the base so that the button inside of the back right good is depressed. last, there is a safety behind the bin that must also be depressed. mine broke--i have a piece of wood jammed in there to hold the button in.

I personally work with Fellowes brand shredders, but it sounds like you have a paper feed sensor issue. This may be a mechanical or electronic sensor located in the center of the paper feed slot. If it is electronic it may just need cleaning(qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol. If it is a mechanical sensor check to make sure it has not been broken or it may be stuck because of paper that has become wedged behind it(you may need to jiggle the switch a few times to free it). If none of this works you may have a burned out switch or a bad pc board, contact manufacturer for more info.

Hi, you might need to calibrate a part of the typewriter in order to fix this or there might be broken part of the typewriter. Please verify how the paper should be advanced based on the typewriter manual. There is no service information available, just an Owner Manual. Somewhere in the throat these is a switch that senses paper in there and that switches the motor on.
