LG LHT754 stuck on dvd function and won't change input

Hold down "2" on the remote simultaneous to "stop" on the receiver. In a couple of seconds you will see something appear on the display. OPO-63? Anyway, repeat the process again when you see that. The system will reset. This will also take care of the inability to switch to AUX or Ipod.

I have a LG LH-T754

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Eure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Unplug the unit for 60 minutes, when you plug it in hold the power button for 5-10 sec which will do a hard reset. This will reset the processor and hopefully the unit will operate normally.

I cannot get a sound out of the speakers also

It sounds like it isn't fully powering on or the logic is hosed up.

I have a lhb975 5.1

You've probably found an answer to this already but just in case...

You're most likely going to have to return the unit -- just receiver and subwoofer in my case as the sub was the only speaker not synching up.

Rather than dealing with their useless "Chat" web support, I would HIGHLY recommend calling their support # to get an RMA. Then request they EMAIL the RMA forms to you rather than snail mail. Also, make sure they have your correct name and info in their ridiculously poor customer database. They had my LHB975 serial # associated with some other person's name and address!! It literally took weeks and at least 6 calls to get it straightened out. Never again....if it dies again, it goes straight in the trash.

Hey, on my LG Blu-ray I have with surround sound,

You already said the Blu-Ray is working, so let's assume it's ok. Other source(s) don't produce surround so that leaves it (them) orthe one place they all come together - your receiver / theater system. Multichannel sound will only come from properly connected digital sources. Is that the case?

My home theater system plays cds but will not play

There is something wrong with the DVD drive assembly inside. If you're brave, take it apart and check on what is making the noise. Also, try using a q-tip to clean the laser head if it's accessible.

If that doesn't help, it's time for a new DVD player.

This is why I always recommend people buy a home theater system without a DVD player built in. The DVD player is the weakest link, and stand alone DVD players can be purchased for as little as $25 depending on if you want upconversion or not.

If you cannot get the DVD player working in your surround system, just replace it with a stand alone DVD player, if you can, check to make sure there are audio inputs on the back of the receiver. If there are no audio inputs on the receiver, you will have to get the entire surround system replaced. If so, purchase a separate DVD player and surround system.

Hooking up a Samsung Blu Ray to an LG Home Theatre & Toshiba TV

I used to have a setup pretty much exactly how yours is hooked up ( Different brand name equip. but basically the same setup) and I had to enter the custom setup screen for my home theater system and there was a setting there that allows you to choose between using a digital optical cable or a digital coaxial cable. I don't know if this is the exact same thing you have but it's worth a try because it sounds like it has to be a setting because like you say sound comes out of the t.v. ( and yes that is not acceptable) so you almost have got it. Keep at it, you can't really mess anything up by hooking up something wrong, it just won't work. Good Luck.

Audio not working on VCR side of LG LRY-517 DVD/VCR combo player

The back of the lry517 has 2 sets of audio outs and 1 set of audio ins. If you are using the component video outs, use the audio outs to the right of the component outs. If you are using AV1, it should be the audio to the left of the component outs. The tape's audio may be very low, try turning up the tv volume? You could also try adjusting the tracking? Have you tried using the AV1 outputs? It would be Composite Video and stereo audio.
