There is a connector somewhere in the bottom that will have gotten debris and stuff in it. Unplug the power first then clean it all contact pins that transfer power. Compressed air works the best but the effect can be gained by using a toothpick. Clearing out the connectors should restore the power to the head. If one or the other stops then its a different problem. This seems to be a full failure in the elements of the head that require power. DO NOT WORK ON ANYTHING STILL PLUGGED IN!!!

Typically that's not a good idea. They are not designed to be repaired and if you do manage to get it apart you will almost surely break the retaining tabs and won't be able to re-assemble it. Most Kenmores are made to last only a couple of years and fail in some way. Sears needs high volume and have these machines built poorly to necessitate you buying high volume.

You need to remove it by pressing the tool attachment button as hard as you can and then slide the cuff off. I needed to use a screw driver to press the button down and then slide the cuff over the button with the screw driver as a wedge. Once the cuff is off, everything else is easy.

looking for help on model 116.23158310c kenmore - looks like the FAN is damaged. I need help in opening the machine to get to the fan and motor - do I remove the wheels for access to more screws or do I pry open the body in the middle

It might sound very easy , but lack of power is usually the cause of a vacuum cleaner that is not working . Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don't need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Tripped Circuit Breaker/ Blown Fuse Check service panel for tripped breakers/blown fuses. If breaker is tripped, reset it. If fuse is blown, replace it. If vacuum cleaner is plugged in, make sure that the power button is in the off position before having to reset the breaker/changing fuse.

Have you checked the belt? The rollers are usually attached to the
belt

Most likely wires off in the handle, or hose needs to be replaced.

I don't have one of these, but is it possible that the new, clean bag has not been installed properly or the cover is not completely in place? Just some things to double check. If all else fails, I suggest calling the manufacturer. (Kenmore is owned by Sears)
