Your question was posted under the Nuvi 680 GPS, so I am assuming this is the model that you have.On the main screen, you will see a green battery status indicator in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The battery is divided into 4 parts. Each part represents 1/4 power. So if you have one green bar, that indicates that the battery has 1/4 of power left. If there are 3 bars, that indicates that there is 3/4 power left. When the unit is charging, you will see a yellow lightning bolt appear over the green battery status icon. When the lightning bolt is not there, this means the unit is running off of the battery. When leaving the unit to charge, press and hold the power button until you see that the screen says Charging Battery. A few seconds later, the screen will go blank to save energy.Pressing the screen again later will either say Charging Battery or Battery Charge Complete.

Hello,The connection to the antenna is most likely broken. This is one of the main issues with the flip up antenna on the nuvi 6xx models. The unit could be sent to a repair depot, but would most likely cost more to fix than what it is worth considering the price of a new GPS in today's market.

Hello,I would suggest you reset the unit, if that doesn't solve the problem, then you will have to update your nuvi. Frozen nuvi is as result of software problem. So you either reset or update. Update helps to reinstall the operating system file of the nuvi, thereby, putting it back to order.Performing a Standard Reset 1. Slide the power switch all the way to the left (with the Nuvi's screen facing you). 2. Hold the switch in the position for at least eight seconds. 3. Push the switch to the right to power the Nuvi back on. Performing a Factory Reset 1. Turn your Nuvi off by sliding the power switch to the left. 2. Press your finger against the bottom right corner of the touchscreen. Hold your finger in this position. 3. Slide the power switch to the right to turn the Nuvi back on. Continue to hold you finger against the screen until you see the factory reset prompt. Tap "Yes" to perform the factory reset. Follow the procedures below on how to update your garmin nuvi: 1. Plug one end of the USB cable into your GPS and the other end into your desktop or laptop computer. The GPS device will load the appropriate driver automatically, and a message on your GPS tells you that it is connected to your computer via USB. 2. Open your Internet browser of choice and type in the following web addres: "http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 " 3. Try performing a soft reset.
Disconnect the unit from any external power supply.
Depress the reset button behind the flip up antenna.
Reconnect the unit to the power supply and let it should work normally.

If the soft reset does not work, try performing a hard reset.
Caution: Performing a hard reset will erase all user information including favorites and bookmarks and restore the unit back to factory settings. Be sure to save any information before performing the hard reset.
With the unit off, press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen while turning the power on until a pop-up appears. Press "Yes" to restore the unit back to factory settings.

Most garmin nuvi satnavs take 4 hours to charge with a mains charger or a car charger. It takes 8 hours with a computer. There's a batter indicator on the screen that shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP. It will probably only appear when the charger is disconnected if it's the same as other garmin nuvis.

You can get the manual in Adobe Reader format from http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/nuvi680_OwnersManual.pdf

There it should be a lock switch on top of the unit that prevents you from touching buttons by accident.

Try giving the unit a hard reset, this is done by turning it off > place your thumb in the bottom right corner of the screen > turn the unit on keeping your thumb in the bottom right corner > let the unit power up unitll the message " Are you sure you want to erase all user data appears" > select yes.
This may fix your problem but you will lose all your favorite and info so only o this as a last resort.

Hope this helps!
