Leaks water

The water may be condensation dripping in an area where the catch components are not able to catch it. The largest line that exits the cold coil and ends at the compressor should be insulated without any tubing showing all the way back to the compressor, deficits in the insulation (even small ones) could cause condensation to form and drip.

Need a new reservoir.

Cindy, all dehumidifier tanks are plastic. If they weren't they'd rust. If you want to replace it, you're looking for Part # 48380A20052. You can find it at the following link. Just be more careful, removing and reinstalling it.

Hope this helped you.

Back and coils freezing up

There are 4 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Before undertaking any of them, Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Allow the unit to thaw completely.

1. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

2. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

3. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

4. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications . Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the defrost sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helps you to trouble shoot and solve the problem.

Why does the unit continue to run and not collect

Hi

Disconnect your appliance from its power source before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance.
Plug something else into the same outlet. If it works, you know you have power to the Dehumidifier. If it doesn't work, you’ll need to check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers. If you have power, it could be one of several problems that are keeping it from running.
Another reason that the dehumidifier won't turn on may be that the humidity level you set your unit for has been reached. If you need or desire a lower level of humidity, adjust the humidistat to reflect this.
Many dehumidifiers have a safety device which senses when the reservoir is full. The tank either presses against a switch, or there may be a sensor connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is full. This is to prevent any water damage to your property. Always remember water and electricity does not mix well. Empty the tank. This should solve the problem if the tank was full. If you empty it, and the unit still doesn't run, look around the tank to see if there's a switch or other device that controls the dehumidifier. Look for a bucket switch. You may be able to throw a switch by hand.

Two things are needed for a dehumidifier to work optimally:
Ambient Temperature (room temperature) must be above 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
Relative Humidity in the room above 45 %.
If the filter is clean and the fan and compressor is running and the humidity is above 45% the likely failure is in the sealed system. It could have a bad compressor, Freon leak, bad reversing valve or a restriction.
Most probably the dehumidifier is low on Freon and the compressor is not kicking in, or the fan is not working thus no air movement.

Let us know if you have something more to know else accept the suggestion.

The light comes on and

remove the rear cover to locate the compressor, then see how hot the compressor is,if overly warm it can be one of 3 issues: 1)rtc overload relay on compressor is bad 2)the units motor capacitor is bad 3) the unit is low on r134a refrigerant, which seems quite common even in these sealed systems the way they're made,if the 2 lines coming into and out of the compressor are not quite different in temp but the compressor seems to be running,(but, which you said it wasn't) running, then first try steps 1 & 2 above
