Fuji Finepix z20 night shots
Set shake reduction, if your camera has it, or else use a tripod or other support. Increase ISO so you can use a faster shutter speed and smaller aperture, for greater depth of field. Use manual focus if you can - night scenes often confuse autofocus. Finally, be prepared for a high failure rate !

Protected card
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My mediaplayer cant play the video files
how do i find out what program or codec my camera has used to compress photos, i took a large number of photos and videos on my memory card, i can view them through the camera but when i load them onto the computer the first few hundred will open and then it says that i cant open the rest due to my computer not having the correct program to view the files, the camera is a few years old it is a finePix S5700 fujifilm, i have googled some info and have figured out that when space starts to be limited the camera will compress the files and thats why i can see the photos on the camera but when i transfer them to the laptop i dont have the right program to decode the compressed files, i understand that and also that i can down the load the codec i need to open the files but my problem is i dont know what codec i need to install on my computer or how to find it out..

Computer is not reading camera.
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.

I have a fugifilm finepix
First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.
Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at

Internal memory to memory card
Generally, it's not possible to move images from internal memory to a memory card, which poses a problem because you can't connect that camera to your computer.
Most digital cameras keep the internal memory separate from the memory card. Not sure why, but they do.
It's unlikely that you'll be able to get those photos off, if the camera isn't recognized by the computer.
