Thi is probably just the sensor that went out in the camera. You just need to have the ccd sensor replaced. There's an amazing site that a lot of people go to for help with the powershots, that is all they specialize in and they're amazing if you need some help with one of these. That website is:

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
How do I turn the flash OFF?
If in Auto, you can't turn off the flash, it will fire automatically if it's needed. You need to be in any mode other than "Auto". Try Program "P" mode, which is similar to Auto, except it allow you to turn off the flash (plus allows some other minor mods). Then press the lightning bolt button on the back of your camera until you see the icon with a slash through it to indicate that it's been turned off.

Another one is to sell this camera on a site such as Ebay for parts, and buy a good camera. Doing it this way may be the better way if you are not very good at repairs. You can get such a camera for not very much, use the sale of the other one to add to your cost.

Hi,
This problem usually occurs due to the Low cost memory card, which has bad memory element.. When the picture gets stored in the bad memory element and when you try to view those picture you may get the UNIDENTIFIED IMAGE error..
The only solution for this error is changing the memory card, Buy a new branded memory card, and this should solve your issue..

How to set date and time to appear on pictures
The date stamp only works in "Postcard" resolution. Press the "Func Set" button, then scroll down to the bottom to select postcard resolution.
Then press the menu button. Select the "Camera" menu, then scroll down to the the Date Time Stamp selection to turn it on.

Blank screen in ON mode at random occassions
Remove the card and the battery...press all the buttons...leave the camera alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. If the screen comes on, go into the menu and scroll to "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Trying to take black and white pictures
It may not work if its on auto. Tou can also convert pictures to BW from windows preview it vista. Go to "fix" on the top menu then Color then turn the saturation to the far left. Make copy first if you wish to keep the original.
Playback for movies on digital camera plats way too fast
I had the same problem. You have the recording setting on time lapse and there is no sound.
Set the recording on to standard by turning the round wheel at the back of your camera. I did not read the manual until I had this problem and I ended up making useless fast videos with no sound. Hope I am right?

Well then, there's also a blurry dot inside of your lens somewhere, I'm not poking fun at this although it sounds that way. Try putting the whole cam in a bowl of ucooked rice for a 24 hour period, uncovered. Burry it deep. When you take it out shake any loose grains out that may have found their way in. Your blurry dot sounds like a moisture spot. The rice will draw all moisture out of the cam.

maybe the lcd is faulty see if u under warrantly and return it back
or u might be able to change the lcd connections by ur self its a flex cable that connects the lcd to the main board
