Could be part of the ribbon cable that feeds from the lcd to the main board has either dislodged or got corroded and is causing a bad connection.if you are brave enough to check always remove the battery first as this will prevent damage to circuitry.if the cable seems fine then it is more likely to be a sensor issue.

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your sd card, here are some for your options.

Either the LCD screen is cracked or defective in some other manner. It's possible the LCD works but just the backlight is out as well. Either way, the camera needs to be opened and the LCD checked out.

The Olympus "Tough" and "SW" cameras are FAR FROM being either "Tough" or "S"hock and "W"aterproof. I have seen dozens and dozens of them with cracked glass over the LCD and destroyed by water damage. Sounds like something got inside your camera or it was badly dropped.

Here's the manual for the 850sw. Got to page 23, and the instructions are there.

Set the Mode dial to the camera pic and press the menu button. Use the arrow keys to arrow left to the RESET icon and then press the OK/FUNC button.

Hello. Begin by turning off the camera and removing the battery. Leave the battery out for two full minutes and then reinsert it. Turn the camera on and it may be fine. If not, and you can now see the screen, go into the menu and find reset. Reset the camera which will take you to the original factory settings and you should be fine. IF neither of these steps solves the problem you should take your camera in for a repair. Opening it up to work on the internal mechanisms will void the warranty. Regards, Joe

If moisture is in the lens, it is inside the camera.
Best to remove the battery or batteries and let it dry out in a warm area for a few days. This may not remove the moisture like taking the camera case off. This may be a job you may not want to tackle.
Corrosion will eventually cause problems within the camera.
It may be that the moisture inside may already have damaged some parts or components or caused a short.
