Hey, the p2 is a paper jam.
the windows does not recognize the device on the xp is a problem with the computer. you can attempt to correct it by uninstalling all USB devices from the computer and then letting the computer reinstall them on its own.
To do that, on your desktop or in the start menu right click on the My computer or computer and select manage. Then on the left side click on device manager, then on the right side in the bottom. See Universal Serial Bus controllers. open that.
Being uninstalling from the bottom and work your way upwards until the Universal serial bus controllers category dissapears. You may have to plug in the old type of mouse to the computer if you have a usb mouse it will stop functioning as we uninstall the usb ports.
to uninstall a device, right click on it and select uninstall. If asked, don't remove software.
once you have uninstalled all the usb ports, turn off the computer and unplug all the usb devices, unplug the power from the computer and hold down the power button for 20 seconds, this will drain any power remaining on the components of the computer.
Plug the power back in and turn the computer back on, let it start up normally, you will get a number of found new hardware notifications in the bottom right of your screen wait for them all to be installed and then start plugging in your usb devices one by one and wait for them to install.
the printer should be detected and work ok. As long as you clear the paper jam.
