is this a 100% hibernate only failure? questions? tell what the PC does good and bad, then we can answer. NO OS stated, XP ? first off for hibernate to work the following must be ok. 1: XP? not infected as all are. 2: all HP drivers that came with it new, still present and loaded. it came with XP or VISTA see that here. load all drivers, and it can work. Id avoid hibernate totally, on such and old PC< unless reloading everything from scratch, is ok. for you. I would. At Hewlett-Packer web site. They are the manufacture for Compaq. Also another source for firmware is : FIRMWAREHQ on the internet...all is free there. Most of the firmware is for older models of 2 to 3 years. never seen any new stuff for brand new computers.

try your setting if that doesn't work then you need a battery replacement.. which is located inside your laptop ..but call hp.com i'm sure they can help

1. Check weather it is muted (software).
2. Failling that take it to a repair center.

You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem. I have a list of links to most manufacturers drivers on my website.

you should be able to go to the manufacturer website to download any drivers you need. 

use your mouse, right click on the driver that you want to enabled,then click on enable.
Or you can click the properties, below the ab box there a selection about enable and disable the driver.

Once downloaded you have to make a floppy disk or a bootable USB drive so make sure you read all the information first before performing the data transfer to the floppy/USB.
Once your happy that the files are on the media and in the USB port or floppy set the XP install going and watch the screen for the F6 prompt, it will be at the bottom right hand side of the screen and you have to be quick to install the third party drivers.

Ok, the problem here is that the Windows XP CD that you have does not have the proper SATA drivers on it already. There are two ways to get around this:

1. Locate the drivers for your SATA controller from HP's website. Copy them to a floppy disk (old 3.5" style) and install the drivers during the installation. When booting up the XP CD, one of the first things it says is "Press F6 to install 3rd party RAID or device drivers". This is where you would press F6. During the install, it would ask you to provide the hard drive controller drivers. Windows XP only allows for these drivers to be installed from a floppy disk, so if your computer doesn't already have a floppy drive, you'll need to get an external USB drive. Once you give XP setup the correct drivers, it can find the hard drive and continue with the installation.

2. Create a custom XP installation CD with the new drivers on it. On another computer with internet, CD-burning capability, and a lot of time and effort, you can slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP CD that you have now. This is not a process for novice users, and can be very time consuming. For a single installation, you're better off with the floppy drive option.

In order to find the correct SATA drivers for your computer, we'll need to know the exact make and model of your computer. The Presario v6700 is a series, there are many models inside of that series. They most likely use the same driver for SATA, but it'd be nice to know exactly which model you have. THis should be printed on the bottom of the laptop.

Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.

Hello Most laptop or PCs, has a combination keyboard pressing keys, that invoque the restore routine. usually F11 or F10. others has DVD, check and see what you have of these two. in the first one, you recover from a disk partition the whole OS.

Its all about go to HP page, and bios updates, the instructions are there too! but be aware you have to be more specific on model, and BIOS dates.
