When using some programs, the

Looks like your monitor is rather too small for the application/programme or you do not have drivers installed for the vga (graphic card)Most or almost all programmes use the default and common screen size of 1024 x 768. and this cannot be achieved on older monitors or even on some smaller modern monitors and also when you do not have drivers installed for the vga.To achieve this follow the steps below
  1. Right click on the desktop
  2. choose properties
  3. click on the settings tab
  4. use the slider and set the screen resolution to 1024 x 768
  5. accept to use that new resolution
  6. click ok and you are done
NOTE: To know if drivers for the vga are installed and working properly, perform the following steps from 3 above
  • after clicking on the settings tab
  • click on advanced
  • from the new dialog box click on the "adapter" tab
  • make sure that the memory size and relevant information is not showing as -unavailable-
  • look at the picture below for example of a pc with drivers installed and the vga set to 1024 x 768.
NOTE: The screen size may sometimes go higher that what i have stated and that should also work well only if your monitor supports that size well enough.aasselhmpabiaaaaaelftksuqmcc

My hp pavillion Media center

Welcome to Fixya

You are having that issue because the system is not able to detect the operating system of your computer. This could be caused by two reasons, The hard drive of your computer may already be defective and is no longer detected by the computer or the operating system of your computer is corrupt.

If this issue is caused by a corrupt operating system then you can try to press F11 for system recovery. This would cause the system to restore to its factory condition. Please note that this step would cause you to lose data on you computer.

You can also try to press F9 to run diagnostics on the hard drive of the machine. If it displays an error the hard drive of your computer is defective and you would have to contact HP to check If you still have warranty and get a replacement Hard drive

Hope this helps

Hi .... I tried to

is the usb drive still attached? if so, unplug it from the pc and see if this fixes the boot issue. If so, you most likely have your bios set up to boot from usb first. You can either change this order or remove the usb drive every time you reboot.

Getting the error 0x4001100200001005 while

The HP site indicates that the error refers to the Disks that you are trying to use to recover the system.
If you have access to the recovery partition, then try the restore from there.
Normally, the restore has a media option and a hard disk option. The media option is dependent on the discs you ceated. If those disks are scratched, dirty or in any way not readable, you will get this error. Yoiu can retry the install and see if it resolv3es itself

Choppy audio windows vista

If audio is choppy it indicates the processor is "busy" and it is buffering due to some other process using up resources and keeping the machine busy so it cannot stream the audio properly. Possibly check the running processes and see which ones have high cpu usage and turn them off, then try it. It may also be a media player issue - have you tried updating the media player or reinstalling it - sometimes installing a service pack will cause a problem with the actual media player - reinstalling them usually fixes that problem.

Tower will not boot or communicate with monitor

Don't throw out that computer or replace any components just yet.

After much trial-and-error, I finally figured out the solution for this common issue with certain HP Pavillion models. It turns out to be a design flaw with the front-panel memory card reader. Somehow the card reader's firmware gets scrambled, and it prevents the computer from booting. You can test this on your machine by temporarily disconnecting the card reader cable at the motherboard header. Voila - I'll bet you $1 that your computer will now boot!

The solution is buried deep inside this HP tech support document. The card reader firmware needs to be reset.

Here\'s how to fix it once and for all:

1) With the computer power unplugged (duh), open up the case & disconnect the card reader cable at the card reader itself - NOT the end that connects to the motherboard header. Make sure the cable end is not touching any metal components before proceeding to step 2 (another duh).

2) With the cable still disconnected, fire up the computer. The tech support doc says to let it boot into Windows and stay there for about 5 minutes.

3) Shut the computer down and reconnect the cable to the card reader.

4) Turn your computer back on - your memory card reader will work and, most importantly, the computer will no longer hang at POST!

I suspect that when you fire up the computer without the cable connected, the card reader is designed to reset its firmware by grounding out through the case - sort of like a CMOS Reset jumper on a motherboard.

I hope this solution is helpful to others.

best,
JohnB

My PC desktop is making a clicking noise

Assuming the 'clicks' are heard when you're on the net...it could be a page in the background updating its 'ad' or auto 'clicking' to another page (within the main page on a different frame). This happen alot on hotmail pages ads using 'Flash'.

You can turn the volume off while surfing until you need to listen to something & turn your volume back on. (I do)

Hope this throws some light on the issue
Good Luck!

When i shut my laptop the tv i use as my monitor goes blank.

Right click the power icon in the system tray (should look like a little plug with a lightning bolt on it.)  Click on "adjust power properties."  Click on the "advanced" tab, then where it says, "When I close the lid of my portable computer," select "Do Nothing."
