Which model is that? Did you see the menu button stuck or was touching some surface continuously? Is there a malfunctioning remote?

It means taht you may have loose cable connection between the logic board and the LCD panel T-CON board, that will be the first place to look, it can also be that it is losing the 5vdc feeding the T-CON board. To unlock (or lock) the OSD menu:

- If the monitor is on, press the power button to turn the monitor
off.

- Press and hold the brightness, contrast and menu keys
simultaneously.

- While holding these keys down, press Power to turn the monitor on.

- Let go of the keys.

Repeat the same procedure to lock/unlock again.

You can also try holding the Menu button for at least 10 seconds until a message pops out of your screen. "OSD Unlocked"

Hi! There may be a problem on the signal connector. Please be sure that the pin connectors are not bent, its normal for pins to be missing. If all the pins look good then the cable itself may need replacement. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Ok check, it isn't muted, check, that audio cable is connected, Check, that the latest sound driver and audio manager is installed.

Look for the menu button on the monitor. Once you enter the menu, there should be an icon or menu item for default or reset.

If you are getting this message this means that you are connecting a device to the monitor and/or a connection that is putting out a signal that is not supported but the monitor. You may also need to look at the cable you are using. Example I have an XBOX 360 with the official VGA cable when I use it to connect to my monitor it works fine. However I have been testing cables to get a setup for my PS3 as I have not been able find an Official one from Sony. So when I connect my RBG to VGA cable to the end of my RGB XBOX cable then to my monitor I get an Out of Range message. So something with the cable is case a problem with the signal to not to be sent properly.

Note with monitors they have a safety feature that they would turn off if they got a signal they did not properly support and/or not read properly. This has always been there they just not got where they would show you a message. Plus with monitors getting bigger they have stopped supporting lower resolutions so you may see this issue more often when hooking up older devices. I my self still have a 15 and 17 inch on my work bench for toubleshooting.

russelc, Before you even start to replace a "bulb" inside your unit I suggest that a visit to www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and www.lcdparts.com to get a handle on just what is involved with a DIY project like this. WHAT even makes you think a bulb blew OUT??? There are many other components inside your monitor that can cause your BLACK SCREEN symptom. Did you visit YOUTUBE to view video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and/or "LCD monitor repair"??? It's not like changing out a failed "new style" screw-in curlie-Q CFL lightbulb that you can get at the local home depot or menards!!! Get back to me after you understand the two or three major causes of LCD BLACK SCREEN symptoms and how others have repaired their units.Also tell us how old or approximate total "ON" hours of use unit has. Did it have a bright, colorful, crisp text and graphics just prior to the BLACK screen problem?? Does the unit have a BLACK BRICK lay on floor power supply or is unit connected directly to wall outlet or surge protected power strip??? Let us know what your going to do after you do some research on the web. Also read some of my (and others) responses to other BLACK SCREEN LCD owners to see if different approach is needed. jrvd, Go visit YOUTUBE and watch some of the longer video clips of lcd monitor disassembly (8- 12min) !! They should be helpful. But you must remember this!!! If you screw up, you only have yourself to blame if you CRACK, FRACTURE, or in some other way damage the LCD screen!!! Your on your own, guy. Good Luck. I'm louie12fix on fixya.

Twist the LCD screen 90 degrees, or install the software on the CD-ROM that came with the monitor.

With that software, your monitor can sense whether it is oriented in "portrait" mode or "landscape" mode, and automatically tell Windows that the device has "rotated".

Try the auto adjust button first.
Does increasing or decreasing the brightness affect the amount of flickering ?
Flickering is usually a inverter board or a backlight bulb issue. You would have to take it apart to try to tell.
If you do take it apart and if you can send me pictures of the boards to [email protected]. I may be able to see the problems if it has typical issues.

Make sure you connected the cable to the correct monitor port. A lot of newer computers have two ports to run two monitors at once. This requires a special setting in the video display preferences.

Have you actually purchased Visio, or are you just trying to get it for free?
As a software guy, I would have to advise against piracy. :)
There are several ways to get Visio for cheap. If you are a student, there are discounted versions available online and in stores. Also, you can check with your school for even cheaper options sometimes. Try the university bookstore if available. Or a Computer Science department maybe.
If you are working, and your company uses MS Office applications, find out if they have the "Microsoft at Home" program. You can get MS Office applications for really cheap that way. I can get Visio through my company's "Microsoft at Home" program for a few dollars.
