You need to check the glass for any white-out or other smears that don't belong, if the glass is clean then the scan assembly has elements that are burned out which will cause dark streaks.

remove the back door and make sure evey thing is properly put back in place and unplug the printer and plug it back in after 2 mins. otherwise call the manufatuer and get it serviced.

i guess there might be a torn paper stuck up inside but'll have to cnfm only on opening the cover

This might not be the issue but I had a similar problem when I first got the printer. Open the top-( where the ink is loaded), look at the back on the right there is a small bus cable ( flat wire usually white) make sure it is pulled in all the way into the top. Be carefull as the prongs can break. This took care of my clicking clacking when the machine came on.

if you were to pull the paper out, first thing would be to turn it off (i dont know if you had it on or not) but you generally want to pull the paper in the direction that is going. if possible try to turn the gears manually if your fingers can reach it, if not there really isnt anything you can d but to take it apart, but putting it back together is another story. you can also take it to a service center.

please open again the cover and look very carefully for the paper
even how small it is it will still cause a paper jam.

after that turn off your printer and try to open it again.

Generally that is a sensor fault and if its an injet printer, I'm sorry to say but its easier and cheaper to buy a replacement.
double check the printer and pull it completely apart if you have to too make sure there is no paper left in there at all, but quite often its a sensor that goes that just displays paper issues when there isnt.
inkjet printers are basically disposable nowadays because of how cheap they are...but give it a shot..also can you run the printer software and see if it gives a more specific error or error code?

yes, it's safe, and if you are dissatisfied with the cartridge, take it up with the cartridge re-filler...better yet, spend about $100 on a black & white laser printer (HP), and get 2000 pages per cartridge, and reduce cost per page by 20 times or more! And If you buy compatibles for this (which are more reliable) -save even more.

We have 30+ printers... which we use for testing empty inkjet cartridges prior to refilling with ink. Basically we inject a little Magic Inkjet Flush directly into the dried print head which allows us to unclog them. Then we soak them overnight on Magic Pillows which gives just enough to do a PRINT TEST next day.

As some of our printers always try the alignment test here´s what we do...

1. Pull paper stack slightly away from printer, when it tries to print it thinks it is out of paper and should offer a cancel print option.

2. Alternatively if you print daily? Try leaving your printer power on... Some do alignments every time you power up... so dont switch off (they use very little power in standby.)

3. When exchanging inks like HP immediately switch off printer which cancels the print test. Then just switch on again.

4. Reinserting your printed sheets each time will save paper if not ink.

Few things to check start -> run -> type in services.msc make sure service named as printer spooler is started, if not right click properties startup type automatic and start, close window.
Check the printing preferences, check quality set it to normal. Check that the printer is set to use the print spooler.
It might be easyer to reinstall the printer, so remove the printer software from the computer, install the software and drivers again.

Your printer loose documents:try to reset it ,unplug for an hour.
Or you might have interferences on your wireless :DECT phone, cell phone, or even an electric device who doesn't work propely, like tv, stove, speakers many things can parasites your connection...
If nothing does your printer as issues, think replacement...

1. Check to see both contacts on cartride is clean, and in the printer the pins that press against the cartridge.
2. Check to see that Cartridge fits perfectly and that theres no clips broken of from the tray
