Check the paper size and paper type settings, this error usually triggers if your application asks for a certain size or type of paper but that paper is not loaded in the printer. Pressing OK tells the printer just to print on the paper you have loaded.

Per HP: 49.xxxx errors are "communication errors" and can be caused by many things:Corrupted driver, corrupted firmware, corrupted print job, bad nic card (your printer has a built in network port), bad memory DIMM, bad formatter board etc etc. Unplug the network cable, power off and then back on..........print a configuration page...........check that the printer sees the network port (if you see the IP address on the EIO page it sees it)...........if it doesn't see it you may have a bad formatter board (the network port is built in it). If the printer works just fine while unplugged from the network, start replacing the network cable, otherwise you need to look into your network.

A 49 error is usually caused by either a corrupt print file or file that the printer does not understand. In most cases updating the firmware will resolve these problems. First, unplug all usb and network cables attached to the printer and power it on. If it comes to ready that is a good sign. Jamming where? Is paper crumpled up in printer or does printer just stop. Likely the rollers in tray 2 are worn. Try printing from the MP tray, if that works then printer is ok and it will be the feed/sep rollers in tray 2. It is also very important on this model to ensure that you have current firmware installed as older versions of firmware have a bug that will wreck the fuser.

Hello Scot, While the printer is OFF, unplug the Power Cord from the back of the printer and also unplug any other cords connected to it. Wait for 25 minutes. Then plug in the printer power cord directly to wall outlet .

u will need a usb cable or a ethernet cable to connect it. you first need to install the driver of the printer on the laptop and that should be a cd that you got with the printer. as soon as the driver and software is on the laptop, u can connect the printer and it should work.
