I had a similar problem, the problem was in the remote. Take out the batteries from the remote and verify if its the remote causing the problem. I fixed my remote with a few bumps.

Use a HDMI cable for all signals. The cable you may be using may not be carrying a sound signal with it. HDMI cable will work for both sound and picture.

LCD monitors have backlight (NEON / LED backlight), the screen will go dark if the backlight circuit / electronics or the backlight itself fails. Get it to a tech who will have spares for your LCD to get it replaced.

I would check the cable, and perhaps test the screen on another computer. What you are describing could be several things, so it is kind of difficult to answer.
Try flooding the screen with an external light, it could be your backlight that is defective.

Do you get any power indicator lit solid/ blinking in tv if it is plugged in wall socket?
If no power indication then power supply board is bad and need to be replaced and if power indicator or any light is blinking on tv that means tv/ monitor got internal problem that could be inverter board or power supply board as well and requires visual check by local tv repair shop.

It can be that the PC is not sending the video signal to the monitor, you need to verify that the PC is OK first, or try this monitor with another PC. We need to narrow down the problem first.
