Picture freezes, sound continues for 5-10 seconds.
In these cases you might be able to see a
picture by shining a bright light right next to the screen front. Do not put the light there for very long or you will end up
with a permanent bright spot burt onto the screen. I have discovered that applying light pressure with a 3/8" thick rubber or
plastic shim corrects a panel inverter/driver board/card solder problem with many flat panel TVs. (Removing
the TV back is required, try light pressure against the inverter board while wearing rubber gloves and tv is then powered on.)

To answer your question;
I would go for the BLP0021L inverters package since it does contain the master and slave boards and it is made for the 32av500.
As you said this can be confusing but i believe the other HIU-813 where the original boards that have been replaced by the BLP0021.
Since there are still some of them kicking around the parts reseller would surely like to get rid of them.
Also the BLP`s have the master/slave printed on them and the $165.00 price you found is the average market price.

It looks like your inverter board went bad. what you can do is turn the tv on and make sure you have a chanel set where you can hear voices, now with a flashlight go aroudn the screen to see if you can see a picture. If you can, then the inverter board is not sending power for the backlight lamps
No video sound ok

The picture does not always appear on the screen
Sounds like a backlight problem. Take a strong light and put it close to the screen when the set is on and the picture is missing. Do you see a faint image on the screen? Then it is the backlight...either the lamp(s), inverter or power supply for it. Service shop issue, not for the DIY'er.

I have an LCD flat screen that is powering on but
Make sure cooling around the unit is good.
Unplugg wait 20 minutes to reset,
Use original remote see if set up works on sceen.
There is a reset to factory to factory settings.
Also the the air wave digital air transmissions ar weak. that causes this. Check cables on rF input or source.

It make sounds but no picture
If it hasn't sustained any physical damage, that's most likely a problem
with the units back-light (a florescent tube behind the TV's screen). It
could require replacement.
This
problem could also indicate a bad inverter (that's a relatively small
circuit inside the TV which converts DC power to AC, in
order to light the back-light). That can also be replaced fairly
easily.
I suppose this all depends on the availability of parts
though.

This problem usually happens when the lamp runs out, verify how old is your TV, lamps have a life spend of aprox. 3 years, most likely you would have to replace the bulb so your TV can start running again!!
I have a 2008 Toshiba 32AV500U flat-screen
i work at cort furniture in kalamazoo mi. as an electronic tech.my co. has about 143 of these model ty'sthey rent. i have ran across about ten of these that don't come on. the most common failure is the right inverter board and sometimes it is the main signal board.they have no replacements for these but have to be sent in to a repair co.to be repaired.
