LG 42PG20 42 in. Plasma HDTV - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Picture setting reverts to Vivid
LG replied to my enquiry abd apparently the TV was in store mode. Just required a factory reset,...seems to have done the trick !
Black bar down middle of screen
these cables are machine installed on the panel itself, not user fixable. however, the cables are mounted to a circuit board at bottom of the screen. to reach they you need to remove nearly all the support structure and boards at the bottom of the panel. there are a number of sensitive parts under there and they have black 'licourus' on the chips to dissipate heat. good luck.
Humming from back of tv
sounds like your powerboard, you can try a cheap fix by putting a small fan behind the tv on low and see if that helps. Also I would not settle for this and call in the warranty and get it fixed while you can.
Audio Problems
Did you try to lower the Bass level from the Sound menu?
I have a LG 42
This is what is referred to as a Maldischarge problem. It seems to be a fairly common problem on plasma displays.
This is caused by a few things but mostly it's either your Y-Sustain or your Z-Sustain boards and usually it's your -VY, your VScan and your ZBias voltages.
If this is covered under warranty just get a tech to fix it. If not, let me know and I can give you some good instructions on how to try to correct this yourself, however it does involve opening up the TV, use of a digital multimeter & osciloscope as well as a small phillips screwdriver, some time, patience and you do run the risk of making it much, much worse if you're not careful.
