Lg 42lg30d turns its self
Hello
The power supply board [SMPS board] of your tV is faulty. Normally, nor repair to this board is intented, or should be done. This board should be replaced as card basis. Plasma TV's panels are very sensitve to static or over voltages. So it will be best to replace this board, rather than maing "surgery' to it. In most cases, the components in this board will be very difficult to get from open market. Frome your description, the SMPS transformer on this board is faulty. You can't get it seperately. Just repace the power supply card. The picture of the card is atteced here. Two snaps of different angle is shown for your reference. OK.

Will not change channels
If you are connected directly to cable TV without a cable box or an external TV antenna, go into the menu system and let the TV autoprogram the channels. It might take quite some time especially if your TV has a digital tuner in it. I hope that helps : )
I have successfully connected my PC to the TV. But

If the TV is completely DEAD. Check the main fuse in the power supply. Replace the fuse with exact amperage. Make sure you unplug the TV before taking the cover off. If the power supply keeps blowing the fuse, replace the power supply. Be very careful high voltage can kill!

My tv will turn on
Hi,
Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.
The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.
Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.
if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.
I hope this will help in solving the problem....

If your TV is still under warranty I would recommend sending it in. It sounds like the receiver on the TV is malfunctioning which isn't something that can generally be fixed or replaced by your local electronics store. Your best course of action would be to send the TV back to the manufacturer with a detailed list of what is happening. Most major retail outlets can assist you in getting your TV fixed or replaced through the manufacturer if you purchased the TV through them.

Hello
The fault is due to its horizontal sync-seperator and horizontal phase detector section, and it is not user servicable. If you want to do it by yoursef, you must have thorugh knoledge in both digital and analogue electroncis, and a high quality digital multimeter to access these sections. A multimeter of the above said type will cost a lot, that it will be a great loos for you to muy such one, more that its service cost. Moreover, you must have a good concept of solering, a sodering iron with ceramic tip, a very steady and stable hand, more patience and concentration, A magnifying glass may also needed.
In my opinion, it will be best for you to get it repaired by a well experienced service technican, who have most modern testing equipments. Otherwise, things will go worse than present as it is. OK.

immediately open your back cover and check the capacitors. The capacitors may be damadge or some connectors may be lose.

Hi, my 42" LG TV
Hi, the appearance of black streaks on the screen of a Sharp LCD TV is common problem most customers will have to contend with. One of the most visible signs is the appearance of a message that reads " loss of sync". In this situation, the individual will still hear the sound coming from the LCD TV but the picture disappears especially within 10 minutes of putting on the TV. In some other cases, small horizontal lines may develop on the LCD screen especially when an object is thrown at the screen -the horizontal lines develop at the spot where the object hits the screen, and these lines are often visible when the TV is turned on and such problem is characterized by Grey color screen with no pictures.
Another common situation is the appearance of vertical red line across the LCD TV screen. In this case, the connection from the internal ribbon connector and the display has been effected. This problem may degenerate into the formation of two screens which are separated by a black line .
LG TV screen repair for Black streaks on screen
The best possible LG TV screen repair for vertical lines on your LCD screen is the replacement of the screen itself. It would be ideal for you to know the warranty status of your LCD TV before returning it to the manufacturer. In the case of the formation of black streaks on the LCD screen, a possible reason is that one of the substrates in the screen has been fractured or it can be a result of the release of some bubbles within the screen, especially after the screen was hit by an object. You don't have to think much about this problem, as it should be in your best interest to get a LCD TV repair service to replace the screen for you.
In some other cases, some other components of your LCD TV screen might have been broken down { hardware problems} resulting in black streaks or the formation of Grey or black color on your screen, you will need to get your LCD TV screen undergo some diagnostic procedures before the problem is fixed. This will help you avoid future re-occurrence of the problem.
