My unit keeps shorting out. wondering if its my car or the unit?
I would hazard to guess that you are running a speaker "ohm load" that
is less than 4 ohms per channel. Or 8 ohms if you are running in
bridged mode. You should NEVER blow a fuse. Re-check all your
connections. Your "cutting out when the headlights are on"
problem is due to low battery voltage to the amp. Use bigger wire
on both your +12 lead and your ground lead. Make sure your
battery to chassis ground lead is even bigger than your amps power
lead. Make sure your amps ground lead is big, beefy, and short.
And get a boost capacitor. When you have a huge amp in the trunk,
you must treat it as if you are trying to run your engine starter from
the trunk when it comes to the size of your hot wire and ground wire.
Good luck.

There is no sound on
Hello Herman, there are various ways to reset a car stereo. the easiest and most efficient way is by taking out the car battery briefly. Once you take out the battery for about 5 mins then the unit automatically resets. Car stereos dont come with a reset button unlike other electronic units because they hardly ever do need it.
If your unit does not produce any sound then the problem is either from the disc you are trying but if this occurs with multiple disc then you might want to check your unit volume as most times this happens to be the problem. If after checking the volume the unit still does not sound up then the wires of the unit to the speakers should also be checked.
If the wires are intact then you would want to contact your nearest dealer to locate a repair center because it means the sound IC in the unit is bad and therefore not producing sound and would need replacement.
Also check the display to determine if the disc or media is playing.
Hope this support has been helpful?
Thank you for visiting FixYa.

Double check the connections from the battery. There might be some loose wire. Did you change any connections at the back of the Radio?

The speaker output doesn't work
Hi Marlena,
I had the same problem with the 2200ub, so I will post the solution for that. Hopefully its the same for you, if not sorry I couldn't help better.
I have a 2002 Suburban and was installing the Pioneer DEH-2200UB.
The suburban had the factory stereo still and has onStar.
So I had everything hooked up, purchased the harness which was perfect except for the blue and white wire on the stereo and a solid blue wire on the factory stereo end. I was confused by there being 2 plugs from the factory stereo and one for the 2200.
I finally went to Best Buy and talked to their tech and he told me that since I have onStar I need to cut the pink wire and wire it to the blue and white wire that goes into the new stereo. These guys were great they didn't hesitate to tell me how to do it and even gave me the extra wire and connectors I would need to do it. Best Buy is expensive but I will keep shopping there just because of their service from these kinds of people.
The pink wire is hooked into the amp which I believe is located under the drivers seat. As soon as I did this everything worked perfectly.
I am not sure if the onStar still works, but I don't plan on using it anyway so if that is important to you, you should probably have a pro do the install. Best Buy will install it for $50 (plus parts) but it could be more for dealing with things like this I really have no idea.
Hope this works for you.

What can i do when my cd gets stuck in the cd
You'll need to take the stereo out of the dashboard. Unplug stereo and remove screws holding cabinet to the guts. Remove top of cabinet so you can see the cd and mechanisms inside the unit. Replug in the unit and push eject, watching mechanisms on both sides of the cd carrier to see if one is moving faster than the other. If eject works then you may have an alignment problem with the stereo - it's possible that you may have just fixed that too, so re - insert cd and immediately eject to ensure proper operation of the mechanism.
If cd does not eject, get a small bladed screwdriver and manually turn the gearing on the side of the cd tray, going from side to side until you have proceeded far enough to pull out cd. Now take the stereo to a repair shop for estimate - or buy a new stereo to install, depending on the cost of the one you're having trouble with!

Try this with your key in the on position and the radio off. Hit the clock button. When the clock appears, hold the clock and audio button at the same time. Thats the way my pioneer does it.

Need to set radio station
This was already answered on another post - http://www.fixya.com/support/t5415241-set_radio_stations
Use the seek button to scroll the radio stations. Once you find a radio
station you like push the corresponding button for which you want it to
remember. Hold the button down until you hear a little beep and you
should see the P with the corresponding number you pressed.

This is going to be a short somewhere in your speaker wires. I know that doesn't solve your problem and it's a pain to find shorts sometimes, but it's one of those needle in a haystack problems sometimes. Hope you find it and good luck!
