Ria: There is a sensor in the throat of the machine that tells if there is paper present. look in the area where the leading edge of the paper sits when paper is loaded. you should be able to see a small piece of plastic sticking up that looks like it would block the paper. That is the sensor flag. Slide a piece of paper in and make sure that it pushes the sensor flag backwards. If it does, the sensor is probably coated with paper dust. Use canned air to blow air at the bottom of the sensor flag to remove the paper dust from the sensor.
