Won't turn the furnace on, have turned off

All gas furnaces have a pilot light. On the On/off dial, look for the word "pilot" turn it to pilot and press. You should be able to find where he gas is coming from(small stream) let go and air out the area. Press in the button and apply a long match or torch to light the pilot. Keep pressed for about a minute, then let the button go slowly. If it stays lit, turn the dial to 'on' then the dial at th thermostat should do the rest.

Blower continues to after reached temp

Sounds like either a short between the G and R t stat wires or the relay in the control board is faulty. Easy way to check is remove the G wire from G terminal on the control board, if the blower stops, there is a short in tje t-stat wiring, if it continues to run a new control board will be needed since the relay is part of the board.

The heater does not shut

try this. open the front of your furnace and look for the thermostat wires. i' dont know what you have but anywhere from 2 to 6 wires in something like a phone wire .find the termial board and take the red wire off. then close the furnace back up making sure the doors are on correctly.did this stop the frunace from running? if so you have a short in the thermostat wiring. check it to see where it is shorted out .replace the red wire and away you go.

House is freezing....cant reset unit...says

For temporary heat while you shop for a new thermostat, take the wire off terminal R and cross it with the wire on terminak W. This will start heat cycle and will run as long as you have the wires crossed. Do not keep wires crossed more than 10 minutes each time you do it.

What does recovery mode mean?

the unit has been set up in the installer set up for recovery... this is for when you are running a program on the thermostat and say you have it set for 5:00 p.m. to come n and run at 70 degrees the revovery is where the thermostat knows at 5:00 p.m. it will not be 70 degrees so determines run time and may come on several hours before your programmed time in order to be 70 degrees at 5:00 oclock.... you can turn it off so that the program will only come on and go off at desired programmed times... you will have to get into the installer set up feature usually requiring to hold down 2 of the buttons at the same time... hopefully you have your paper work on the stat still if not repost with a request for a manual or instructions good luck to you...

How do you turn on the heater?

Mine has two switches one says cool - off - heat, the other says fan on - fan auto. For heat I set the first to heat and the second to auto. This puts everything in to heat mode and the fan runs from the furnace control now not constantly. Hope this helps you out.
