Tomtom GO 730 Car GPS Receiver - Page 2 Questions & Answers
I have just paid for
Hi it seem as if that map was not design for New Zealand to be sure you should contact the seller about the problem.
How do I open a TomTom Go 730?
After talking them 2 T7 screws out of the back, use the tool to gently push through the holes the pop the screen out. easy
Can you connect the blackerry storm to the tomtom 730
I really don't think so. According to TomTom's support site there are 'live' versions of some of its models but there is nothing I found to do this. You can, however, by software from Garmin and other GPS software makes that allow for installing the software to your BB Storm and using the internal GPS or connecting via bluetooth to an external GPS receiver at least.
Wrong language,
from the main menu tap the wrench (settings). then tao the lips (voice options) then tap the top left icon it should bring up a list of languages with pictures of flags you should be able to choose your language from the pictures of the flags
I'm having the same problem and i have had it in
Does the device work outside the car? Remember, the GPS does not work through the roof of the car; clear sight through a window is needed. Some car windows have metallic coatings that can severely reduce GPS signal quality.
You should also connect the GO to a PC once a week and update the "QuickGPSFix" data using the TomTom Home software. It contains precomputed GPS satellite positions and speeds tuning in on them down to seconds instead of the 10+ minutes it needs without this data.
When driving sometimes the system goes out
Check the power connector on the bottom of the device. After some time of use the socket does not provide firm seating any more and the Go switches off to preserve battery power (switch off in 10 seconds message). The auto-power off on connection loss can be deactivated, but since battery capacity is extremely poor anyway, it will soon emergency power-off.
I put the power cord over the arm of the mount in a loop (behind the device), so the weight of the cable does not pull out the plug so easily. An alternative car mount is available that has a design similar to the docking stand for PC connectivity. Here, the device rests on the plug and provides better connectivity by its own weight.
Hello
Hello,
The battery with exclamation point means the battery is not charged. Check your car charger fuse and the fuse box fuse for the power outlet. Next check the TomTom connected to your PC with the data cable, it should charge that way too. Let it sit for about 1 hour and then try to power it up and see if you get the same thing. If you do get the same thing then most likely the USB jack on the TomTom is broken off from the board. If that is the case you will need to have it serviced, you can either send it to TomTom or find a local repair company. If you are interested we do repair TomTom units with these issues. I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I got the standard mount with TomTom GO 730 and it
This is a fairly common issue especially with aftermarket tinted car windscreen 'film'.
You can try prolong the suction by wetting the suction cup with water of very slightly soapy water before applying it to your 'clean' windscreen area.
As for the dashboard, for some models, TomTom provide a plastic circle to which the suction cup attach to. The plastic circle is first 'permanently' attached to your dashboard with double-sided adhesive tapes.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.
730T - tomtom home hangs when checking for updates - mac
Hi - have had the same problem - if you look on the tomtom website and support they have a list and one is flashing red cross. You need to follow the steps to format the tomtom. I did this and it worked and it included the update. i havent reconnected since i have it working now. I think its a software problem with HOME. Make sure you do a back up on home and make sure you follow step by step. close HOME before you start to reformat and also in the preferences turn off the automatically connect to home when you plug into your computer or it keeps flashing up on the screen to correct. the only solution is to format it. i bought mine two days ago and the first one stuffed up so took it back for a replacement. this one worked when i turned it on but turned out the flashing cross appeared when connected to computer (i have a mac). good luck
Tomtom GO 730 and SMS reading?
The N95 is probably still not supported for your GO730 at this stage.
Some of the other N9x Models cannot send SMS.
You can bring up more information here:

When u turn it on all it does is show the memory
This is because the memory card was not formatted correctly ir is missing vital files.
If you backed up your gps then you could reformat the card properly (not ntfs) and then restore to it which would get you back up and running.
If you need it in a hurry then switch it off remove the sd card and re-boot. this should put you back on the factory defaults unless you made any changes prior to putting a card in.
