download naviextras toolbox backup your trax 5000 choose the updated maps you need and pay for the new updates and it will automaticaly download to your trax 5000 it took some hours for uniden to recieve the payment from my bank here to alow the down load but they sent an e mail when the payment was approved all the waiting was worth it when i used the trax 5000 after the up date it was money well spent it was the first up date i did after 4 years having the machine just had to be patient but the outcome was worth it

hi Joe Peckham you need to download the latest from uniden on to you computer. You can copy the download on to the SD card as a file. in order to do the download on the SD card back on to the Trax 353 see if you can upload files from the SD card. Because it has been my experience that you may need to transfer the file download and copy it into a different file type on the SD card. If you still have the getting started tips and tricks man. See what it says about reading files from SD card. My suggestion use a a 4GB SD card. with nothing on it this way you can erase the SD card and Start fresh. Hope this helps. Unfortunately, this is not that uncommon. I suggest you unplug your gps and restart it. A successful firmware upgrade takes only minutes, so something has definitely gone wrong during yours. Damage may have been done, but it was done more or less immediately, so waiting longer is not going to help. Uniden's 'Trax Central' software has been known to successfully repair Trax 353 units with damaged firmware (which yours may or may not be - you won't know until you restart it). This software is not Mac compatible, so you will need to find a PC to run it on. This software will also allow you to back up your GPS, so that you can't lose any information if it does fail in the future. If your unit is damaged and 'Trax Central' doesn't fix it, it will need to be returned for service. I hope that helps.

It is very possible that your messages age being saved by your provider. They do this so you can access them with your cell phone. If you do not what this service, you must tell them to stop. and most providers will. Mine did. Good luck
