How I can reset a Clarion MAX385VD?

If there is a reset switch, there will be a pencil tip sized depression somewhere on the face. It will not be marked. If there is no reset switch, just disconnect the battery for a minute or so.

I have a Clarion MAX385vd

Hello,

I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD/discs most of the time.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens).

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

Radio dont turn off when

Did you recently install/have it installed and has it ever worked correctly?

What it sounds like is that the 12v constant and 12v switched/ignition wires may be connected in reverse. Normally the constant is what powers the memory of the radio so you don't have to enter your settings/presets every time you turn it on. The switched/ignition is what actually powers on/off the unit when you turn the car on/off. If these are switched the settings will be forgotten every time the car is turned off and the unit will stay on when the car is off.

You can check your wiring with a multimeter. With the car off, find what is supposed to be the constant, put the positive lead from the meter to that and the negative to ground (can be any metal in the dash). It should read 12v or just under. Now do the same with the switched/ignition wire. With the key off there should be no reading. When the key is turned on you should get a reading of 12v or just under.

If its not that then it would most likely be something wrong with the unit itself, which would have to be looked at by a technician from the manufacturer.

There is also a small chance it could be something with the vehicles door switch. Some cars will leave the radio on, after the car is turned off, until the door is open. If the door switch has shorted out/gone bad it could keep the radio powered on. Without knowing the make and model of the car it would be difficult for me to describe where the door switch can be found.

I hope this helps

What color is the e brake wire on clarion

The most common way to solve this is to ground the E Brake wire and the deck thinks the E Brake is always on. if that fails you may have a somewhat smarter deck and may have to go to plan B.
This is a common solution to bypass the e-brake screen,

1st you will need to purchase a 12 volt or above Momentary Push Button/(Toggle)switch (about $5 Radio Shack)

2nd Using the Diagonal Pliers adjust the length of the Radio's Emergency Brake Wire to your desire. Make sure you have enough wire so you can mount it where you can easily access it like beneath your steering wheel/ on the Dash Board.

3rd Connect one end to the emergency brake wire from the radio and then connect the other wire from the switch to a ground to your car. You can use the same ground connection that you used for the radio and it will be fine. Make sure you wrap up the wires using the Electrical Tape to prevent shorts.

4th (Using Button Switch) When you are ready to use the DVD player insert DVD and after a few seconds the screen will turn blue and the message to "Set the emergency brake" will come on. Now just press the button (4x Times)for one second and release it. On The fourth time the screen takes about 6 second to display the video.

5th (Using Toggle Switch) When you are ready to use the DVD player insert DVD and after a few seconds the screen will turn blue and the message to "Set the emergency brake" will come on. Now just flip the switch on and off (4x Times). On The fourth time the screen takes about 6 second to display the video.

Hopefully this helps.

what you need to do is to get the green wire from unit and hook it up to a toggle switch with only on/off then you would connect the green to toggle switch and the rest of the connections on toggle switch ground them. flick it slowly twice and the dvd should show even when driving. just remember its against law so if you see police switch it off quickly

I popped off the mono/adj

It is difficult to buy one individually as it comes with the Panel. I would be easy to have the button stuck on back to the panel .
I shall give below a service tip we tried on.
1. Open the panel and remove. fix the button on the correct position and use an instant glue to fix it in place.
2. Now use thin strips of thin stranded wires - from a power connection cord- use this bit and with the help of a soldering iron touch the wires into the button and to the panel so that you have the attachment in good structural fitting.
3. Reinforce the plastic with glue to set.
Now the button must stay in place and will not POP out.
If you take care to so the job it will be as good as new.
I hope this trick works.
Good day
