Did u ever find a solution? The room I use the home theater in gets quite hot. I use an air conditioner but I think prolonged use in the heat has ruined the fan(s). The speakers will power up, and sound can be heard but after a minute or two the CHK FAN will come across the display, and ultimately, shut the system off. Is this what happens to you? T?hanks for any and all responses!,

This could be caused by a dirty or faulty laser.

The first thing to try would be a DVD Lens Cleaner but if this fails then your laser is failing.

Lasers can be replaced but due to their high cost it's not normally viable.

You need to try a DVD Laser Lens Cleaning Disc.

If this doesn't work then you'll need to remove the cover and clean the Laser Lens with some Lens Cleaning Fluid and a QTip. Just use a few drops on the QTip and then wipe over again with a dry one.

If the above fails then its the Laser that's failing which isn't normally cost effective to replace.

A good way to check is if it will still play CDs but not DVDs then its the Laser.

Unit will not power up. everything is plugged in.

Is this a new unit that has never worked or a new problem on a previously working unit? It's important to know.

Try unplugging all the speakers and see if it turns on.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

How to I get my surround sound speakers to work

One way would be to connect one of the the digital audio outputs to the HT as an input (HDMI or optical digital audio).

Another would be to select one of the DSP modes that uses surround speakers. They work with all input modes.

Sound is not coming out of my wireless speakers

The DVD must be connected to the surroun sound Tuner. If you had it running into the TV that is the problem. Also if you are using an optical or "fiber optic" cable for your sound the dvd may have rca jacks, you did not say if the dvd came with the surround system. This is all meant if it did not. If it did then your wireless speakers may not have the capability to stream audio other than from the TV, which is probablly HDMI, ? Let me know what kind of dvd it is and if it is part of te system or not. The easiest way to tell is to run a seperate pair of RCA jacks to the surround sound reciever and see if it works, if not then either that is trouble with the rear channel, "common" because it uses the same frequency as a wireless phone 90% of the time. You may also try to move them closer but if there is no signal it won't help. You probablly have to run another se of audio cables to the reciever. Mine all runs into the surround sound reciever with hdmi cables, but my rear ones are wired. There is a lot of problems with that wireless rear speaker as it is limited.

The Directv codes for my Samsung HT-TZ512 surround

sometimes directv remotes do not work with surround dvd players. Try doing an automatic code search . Most of the time it will only allow you to power the dvd player and operate the volume.
